1960–61 In Belgian Football
The 1960–61 season was the 58th season of competitive football in Belgium. Standard Liège won their second Division I title. K Lierse SK entered the 1960–61 European Champion Clubs' Cup as Belgian title holder and RU Saint-Gilloise entered the 1960–61 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. The European Cup Winners' Cup was first played this season but no Belgian club participated since the Belgian Cup had not been played since 1955–56. Belgian Pro League
The Belgian Pro League,(officially the Jupiler Pro League due to sponsorship reasons with Jupiler), is the top league competition for association football clubs in Belgium. Contested by 18 clubs since the 2020–21 season and reduced to 16 teams from the 2023–24 season onwards, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Challenger Pro League. Seasons run from early August to late April, with teams playing 34 matches each in the regular season, and then entering Play-offs I (also known as the ''Championship Playoff'', ''title playoffs'' or ''Champions' play-offs'') or Play-offs II (also known as the ''Europa League playoff'' or ''Europe play-offs'') according to their position in the regular season. Pierre Hanon
Pierre Hanon (29 December 1936 in Brussels – 13 October 2017) was a footballer who played mainly for R.S.C. Anderlecht and the national team. He played in the match Belgium-Netherlands in 1964 with 10 fellows from the Anderlecht team after the substitution of goalkeeper Delhasse by Jean-Marie Trappeniers. In total, Hanon collected 48 caps. Hanon signed to Anderlecht in 1945 as a young player. He was first called in the first team in 1954 but he lost his place after a poor performance. A season later, he played in the 2–0 victory to rivals Standard Liège, but was sent to the B team again for the rest of the competition. His third match with the team was in Hungary for the first European game in Anderlecht history. Hanon was called by the manager the day of the match because of Susse Deglas's injury, while he was doing his military service. Victor Wégria
Victor Lucien Wégria (4 November 1936 – 5 June 2008) was a Belgian footballer who played as a striker. He played mostly for RFC Liège, and later joined Standard Liège. Wégria finished four times top scorer of the Jupiler League (in 1959, 1960, 1961 and 1963). Only Erwin Vandenbergh managed to beat this record (he was six times top scorer of this competition).
