The Chilean Primera División (English: First Division) is the top-tier league of the Chilean football league system. It is organized by the ''Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, ANFP''. The league is known as the Campeonato AFP PlanVital for sponsorship reasons. Format As of the 2018 season, 16 teams compete in the league, playing against each other two times, home and away. Relegation and promotion Currently, the two teams with the worst scores in the season, are relegated to Primera B, and replaced by the Champions and Runners-up of this Division. Qualification for international competitions The champions of the Campeonato are immediately qualified to the Copa Libertadores for the next year, as well as the second and third place. Rangers De Talca
Club Social de Deportes Rangers is a Chilean football club based in the city of Talca. The club was founded November 2, 1902 and plays in the second level of the Chilean football system. Their home games are played at the Fiscal stadium, which has a capacity of 16,000 seats. History The name Rangers was chosen by a Scotsman, Juan Greenstret, who was one of the founding fathers of the Club on behalf of Mrs. Amalia Neale de Silva, the first benefactress of the club. The origin of the chosen team colours, red and black, are unknown, though one of the possibilities was that some of the first players were also members of the Second Company of Firemen of Talca, whose shield was red and black. 1959 Copa Chile
The Copa Chile 1959 was the 2nd edition of the Chilean Cup tournament. The competition started on November 21, 1959 and concluded on December 22, 1959. Santiago Wanderers won the competition for the first time, beating Deportes La Serena on the final. Matches were scheduled to be played at the stadium of the team named first on the date specified for each round. From the beginning of the second Round, if scores were level after 90 minutes had been played, an extra time took place. Leonel Guillermo Sánchez Lineros (25 April 1936 – 2 April 2022) was a Chilean professional footballer who played as a striker on the left wing. He is recognized as one of the Best South American Footballers of the 20th Century and one of the great forwards in the history of the FIFA World Cup. Ernesto Bernardo Álvarez Terojín (August 10, 1928 in Fuentes – September 27, 2010 in Buenos Aires) was an Argentine and Chilean football striker. He played club football in Argentina and Chile. Álvarez played youth football for América de Funtes and Rosario Central before joining Banfield in 1948. He went on to make 152 appearances for the club, scoring 56 goals. In 1957 he moved to Chile toplay for Green Cross and in 1959 he joined Universidad de Chile where he became an important member of the team that became known as the " Ballet Azul" (Blue Ballet). He won four league championship titles with the club and is still one of the top scoring players in the history of the club with 82 goals in 190 games.
