1958 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The 1958 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 68th staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887. Thurles Sarsfields were the defending champions. On 21 September 1958, Thurles Sarsfields won the championship after a 4–11 to 3–03 defeat of Toomevara in the final at MacDonagh Park. It was their 21st championship title overall and their fourth title in succession. Thurles Sarsfields GAA
Thurles Sarsfields is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred in the town of Thurles at Semple Stadium. The club was founded in 1881 and is the most honoured club in the history of the county championship with 36 County Titles. Tony Wall
Anthony "Tony" Wall (born 9 May 1934) is an Irish former hurler and manager who played as a centre-back at senior level for the Tipperary county team. Wall joined the team during the 1953–54 National League and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1967 championship. During that time he won five All-Ireland medals, six Munster medals and six National Hurling League medals. Wall captained the team to the All-Ireland title in 1958. At club level Wall was a ten-time county club championship medalist with Thurles Sarsfields. Playing career Colleges Wall first experienced hurling success when he was a student at Thurles CBS. Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the FBD Insurance Tipperary County Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Tipperary County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1887 for the top hurling teams in the county of Tipperary in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Semple Stadium in October. The prize for the winning team is the Dan Breen Cup. Initially played as a knock-out competition on a divisional basis, the championship currently features a group stage followed by a knock-out stage.
