The Dutch Eredivisie in the 1957–58 season was contested by 18 teams. At the end of the competition, Door Oefening Sterk (DOS) and SC Enschede shared the lead with 47 points. According to the rules, an extra match was required. It was played at a neutral field ( De Goffert, Nijmegen) and Door Oefening Sterk won the championship by winning 1-0 after extra time. The Eredivisie (; ''"Honour Division"'' or ''"Premier Division"'') is the highest level of professional football in the Netherlands. The league was founded in 1956, two years after the start of professional football in the Netherlands. It is considered one of the best European leagues. As of the 2020–21 season, it is ranked the sixth-best league in Europe by UEFA. The Eredivisie consists of 18 clubs. Each club meets every other club twice during the season, once at home and once away. Fortuna Sittard
Fortuna Sittard (; li, Fortuna Zitterd ) is a football club in Sittard, Netherlands. The club currently plays its football in the 12,500 capacity Fortuna Sittard Stadion and features in the Eredivisie. The club was established through a merger of former clubs Fortuna 54 and Sittardia, which merged as the Fortuna Sittardia Combinatie on 1 July 1968. History The club experienced mixed fortunes throughout its history although they were a regular fixture in the Eredivisie in the 1990s, with players such as Kevin Hofland, Mark van Bommel and Fernando Ricksen emerging from its youth system. These players later joined PSV Eindhoven and Rangers, and featured for the Netherlands national team. The team also signed Wilfred Bouma and Patrick Paauwe from the youth setup of PSV. In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Amsterdamsche Football Club Door Wilskracht Sterk ( en, Amsterdam Football Club Strong Through Willpower), also referred to as AFC DWS, Door Wilskracht Sterk or simply DWS, is a Dutch football club from Amsterdam, currently competing in the Tweede Klasse ( en, Second Class), the sixth tier of amateur football in the Netherlands. KNVB Cup
The KNVB Beker (; en, KNVB Cup), branded as the TOTO KNVB Beker for sponsorship reasons, is a competition in the Netherlands organized by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) since 1898. It was based on the format of the English FA Cup. Outside the Netherlands, it is often referred to as the Dutch Cup. TSV NOAD was an association football club based in Tilburg, Netherlands. Founded in 1910, the club played at the highest level of Dutch football between 1918 and 1961. History NOAD was founded on 5 June 1910. Unlike most other clubs in North Brabant, the club was not formed as Roman Catholic but was rather secular. Initially, NOAD mainly played friendly matches against Roman Catholic institutes. Many so-called Roman Catholic clubs were not allowed by the clergy to play the "savages" of NOAD. The first competitive league matches were played as Brabantian Football Association (BVB). In November 1917, the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) placed NOAD in the National 2nd Klasse B.
