The South American Championship 1955 was a football tournament held in Chile and won by Argentina with Chile as runners-up. Brazil, Bolivia, and Colombia withdrew from the tournament. Rodolfo Micheli
Rodolfo Joaquin Micheli (24 April 1930 – 27 December 2022) was an Argentine association football, footballer who played as a striker (association football), striker. He was the topscorer of the 1955 South American Championship. Club career Micheli started his professional playing career with Argentino de Quilmes in 1950. He returned to Club Atlético Independiente, Independiente in 1952, where he played 147 games for the club scoring 52 goals. In 1958 he joined Club Atlético River Plate, River Plate but only played 2 games for the club before moving on to Club Atlético Huracán in 1959. Micheli joined Colombian side Millonarios in 1960, but he soon returned to Argentina where he played for Club Atlético Platense. In 1964 as player and Manager of Colegiales and in 1965 he joined Juventud Unida de San Miguel. Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos
Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos (originally known as Estadio Nacional) is the national stadium of Chile, and is located in the Ñuñoa district of Santiago. It is the largest stadium in Chile with an official capacity of 48,665. It is part of a 62 hectare sporting complex which also features tennis courts, an aquatics center, a modern gymnasium, a velodrome, a BMX circuit, and an assistant ground/warmup athletics track. Construction began in February 1937 and the stadium was inaugurated on December 3, 1938. The architecture was based on the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany. The stadium was one of the venues for the FIFA World Cup in 1962, and hosted the final where Brazil defeated Czechoslovakia 3–1. Óscar Gómez Sánchez (*Lima, 1934 - †Lima, 4 March 2008) was a Peruvian football player. Club career Gómez Sánchez was a forward and played for Alianza Lima, where he won the Primera División Peruana three times. Eulogio Ramiro Martínez (11 June 1935 – 30 September 1984) was a Paraguayan-born footballer who played as a striker. He played for the Spanish side FC Barcelona in the 1950s and 1960s, and is remembered for being a prolific striker with an excellent finishing ability. He was reputed to be the creator of the "Martinez Turn", which can be seen on Movietone footage of Barcelona's quarter-final match against Wolves in the 1959–60 European Cup.
