The 1952–55 Nordic Football Championship was the sixth tournament staged. Four Nordic countries participated: Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Nils-Åke Sandell
Nils-Åke Sandell (5 February 1927 – 29 May 1992) was a Swedish football player and manager. Club career Sandell started his playing career in his birth city Lund at local club Lunds BK. After a brief period at IFK Malmö he returned to Lund before moving to Malmö FF in the 1952 season. After spending 4 years in Malmö Sandell had quite a reputation for being a goalscorer and tried his luck in Italy and SPAL 1907. After his period in Italy Sandell returned to Malmö FF and played one last season there in 1958. International career He played a crucial role in Sweden's triumph at the 1952–55 Nordic Football Championship, being the top goal scorer of the tournament with 10 goals in 8 caps, and he was also part of Sweden's squad for the football tournament at the 1952 Summer Olympics, but he did not play in any matches. Gösta "Knivsta" Sandberg (6 August 1932 – 27 April 2006) was a Swedish football, ice hockey, and bandy player who is best remembered for representing Djurgårdens IF. He was capped 52 times for the national team in football, eight times in hockey, and three times in bandy. Football career In 1956 he received the Guldbollen as Sweden's best footballer of the year, and he was voted "Djurgårdare of the century" in 1991. A full international between 1951 and 1961, Sandberg won 52 caps and scored 10 goals for the Sweden national team and represented his country at the 1952 Summer Olympics where they won the bronze medal. Hasse Persson
Hans "Hasse" Persson (20 January 1929 – 29 July 2001), often called HP, was a Swedish football forward who in his time was immensely popular in the football club Landskrona BoIS. Biography Hasse "HP" Persson started his football career in his hometown Klippan before the age of 20, and in 1949 he took the step to Helsingborgs IF and Allsvenskan. There, he soon blossomed into his role as left inner and got his debut in the Swedish national team. His first game for Sweden was in September 1952 in Helsinki in an international match against Finland and he made a hat trick in an 8-1 triumph. The next international against Norway that same autumn he made the decisive 2-1 goal, and he also scored in his international game number three, against Italy. John Nilsson
John Oskar Emanuel "Long-John" Nilsson (27 April 1908 – 1 December 1987) was a Swedish footballer who played as a forward. He was the 1930–31 Allsvenskan top scorer while at GAIS and won two caps for the Sweden national team, scoring six goals. Club career Beginning his career at IK Virgo, he had his breakthrough year in 1930 with GAIS when he became the 1930–31 Allsvenskan top scorer and helped the club win the 1930–31 Swedish Championship. He briefly played for IFK Östersund in 1934 before signing with AIK, where he spent two Allsvenskan seasons. He finished up his career at his hometown GAIS as well as at Sibbhults IF. Ullevaal Stadion () is an all-seater football stadium located in Oslo, Norway. It is the home ground of the Norway national football team, and the site of the Norwegian Cup Final. From its opening in 1926 to 2009 it was the home ground of FK Lyn and from 1999 to 2017 was a home ground of Vålerenga IF. Kalevi Valdemar Lehtovirta (20 February 1928 – 10 January 2016) was a Finnish football striker who competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics. Personal life While in Paris he married a local woman who gave birth to their twin sons. They lived in Montmartre neighbourhood. His children and grandchildren reside in France. Career Club Lehtovirta started playing football in Maarian Kisa-Veikot. In 1947 he was promoted to senior squad of Turun Weikot.
