Divizia A
The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. The Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 campaign, being currently on the 29th place in UEFA's league coefficient ranking list. It is administered by the Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal, also known by the acronym LPF. Before the 2006–07 season, the competition was known as ''Divizia A'', but the name had to be changed following the finding that someone else had registered that trademark. FC Rapid București
Fotbal Club Rapid 1923, commonly known as Rapid București () or simply as Rapid, is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest, which competes in the Liga I. It was founded in 1923 by employees of the Grivița workshops as ''Asociația Culturală și Sportivă CFR'' ("CFR Cultural and Sports Association"). Domestically, Rapid București is one of the most successful clubs in the country, having won three national titles, 13 Cupa României and four Supercupa României. Internationally, its highest achievements are reaching the quarter-finals of the 1972–73 Cup Winners' Cup and of the 2005–06 UEFA Cup, and the final of the 1940 Mitropa Cup, the latter not being played because of the Second World War. Recently, the club was declared bankrupt in 2016, but was refounded and managed to return to the top flight in 2021. Francisc Spielmann
Francisc Spielmann ( hu, Sárvári Ferenc; 10 July 1916 – 21 November 1974) was a football player and coach of German ethnicity who played as a striker at international level for Romania and Hungary. Career Spielmann begin his football career in 1926, at Stăruința Oradea. In 1934, he appeared in the colors of CA Oradea and immediately became a member of the silver medal team. In 1940 he made a short break to UD Reșița and then he returned to Oradea, which was already in the Hungarian Championship. He was a member of the 1943-44 Hungarian Champion and the 1948-49 Romanian Champion. He was top-scorer for NAC in their Hungarian title-winning season, with 23 goals; he was also the Hungarian player of the year. In 1950, he was put on a free agent list overnight. He returned to his first football club, Stăruința Oradea, which was named Metalul Oradea, in the county championship. He managed to move up two classes with the team and retired in 1953. János Kovács (footballer, Born 1919)
János Kovács (13 March 1919 – 1982) was a Hungarian footballer who played as a forward. Club career Kovács played for several Hungarian clubs located in Romania, such as Nagyváradi AC, where he won the 1943–44 Nemzeti Bajnokság I and later with the same club but under a different name, IC Oradea, he won the 1948–49 Divizia A. International career On 6 June 1943, János Kovács played his only match for Hungary, being used by coach Kálmán Vághy in a friendly which ended with a 4–2 victory against Bulgaria. Ladislau "László" Zilahi (born 24 February 1922 – 1997) was a Romanian professional football player and manager of Hungarian ethnicity. Mircea David (16 October 1914 – 12 October 1993) was a Romanian football player, who played as a goalkeeper. After a match between Romania and Italy, played in Rome, he was nicknamed by the Italian football fans ''Il Dio'', because of his incredible saves. Ștefan Filotti (19 September 1922 – 28 September 1969) was a Romanian forward. International career Ștefan Filotti played 13 games at international level for Romania, making his debut in a friendly which ended 2–0 against Croatia. 1950 Divizia B
The 1950 Divizia B was the 11th season of the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The format with two series has been maintained, but each of them having 12 teams instead of 14. At the end of the season the winners of the series promoted to Divizia A and the last two places from each one of the series relegated to District Championship. Also this was the first season played in the spring-autumn system, a system imposed by the new leadership of the country which were in close ties with the Soviet Union. Faur București
Faur București was a football club based in Bucharest, Romania. History The club was established in 1935 as Metalul by workers at Malaxa. Prior to World War II they were known as Titanii and Rogifer. After the nationalisation of Malaxa, the club was renamed 23 August before becoming Metalochimic. In 1947–48 the club won promotion from Divizia B into Divizia A. However, they finished second bottom of the division the following season, and were relegated back to Divizia B. RSSSF The club was later renamed Energia and then back to Metalul again.
