1947–48 Real Madrid CF Season
The 1947–48 season was Real Madrid Club de Fútbol's 45th season in existence and the club's 16th consecutive season in the top flight of Spanish football. Summary The season is best remembered as the worst league performance by the club in its history finishing on 11th spot avoiding relegation on the last round of the season in spite of a great campaign of midfielder Luis Molowny scoring nine goals. After three years of construction " Nuevo Chamartín" (New Chamartín Stadium) was inaugurated on 14 December 1947 with a match between Real Madrid and the Portuguese side Os Belenenses. The stadium had an initial capacity of 75,145 spectators. Meanwhile, the club fired two managers until Michael Keeping was signed for the second part of the season improving the path for the squad included a controversial 1–1 against top-league team Atlético Madrid. Jesús "Chus" Alonso Fernández (April 24, 1917 in Havana – August 9, 1979 in Madrid), was a Spanish association football player. He played as a midfielder. Sabino Barinaga Alberdi (15 August 1922 – 19 March 1988) was a Spanish football forward and manager. He appeared in 205 La Liga matches and scored 92 goals over 13 seasons, almost exclusively for Real Madrid. He later embarked on a managerial career, which lasted nearly 25 years. Juan Antonio Ipiña Iza (born 23 August 1912 in Ortuella, Biscay; died 7 September 1974) was a Spanish footballer and later a manager. Clemente Fernández
Clemente Fernández López (23 November 1919 – 17 July 1996), known simply as Clemente, was a Spanish professional footballer who played as a right back. Club career Having begun his career as a midfielder, Clemente joined hometown club Real Madrid in 1942 from local amateurs CD Deportivo Castilla, playing in only four La Liga games in his first season. After one year on loan at Hércules CF he returned to the ''Merengues'', but appeared in just seven league matches during the campaign. Of the following seven seasons, Clemente managed to be regularly played in four of them, winning three major titles including two Copa del Rey trophies. In 1952, after 144 official games with Real Madrid, he signed for fellow league side Deportivo de La Coruña, retiring at the end of the campaign at the age of 33. Pepe Corona
José 'Pepe' Llopis Corona (4 June 1918 – 29 January 2011) was a Spanish footballer who played as a left defender. Over the course of seven seasons he amassed La Liga totals of 150 games and 14 goals, namely with Real Madrid. Football career Born in Alicante, Valencian Community, Corona made his La Liga debuts with local Hércules CF, being relegated in his first year as a professional. José Bañón
José Bañón Gonzálvez (19 April 1922 – 21 April 1987) was a Spanish football goalkeeper and coach. Club career Bañón was born in Alicante. After playing for three local amateur clubs he joined another team in the Valencian Community, Hércules CF, being part of their La Liga roster in 1941–42 but failing to make his debut in the competition. Bañón signed for Real Madrid in the summer of 1943, being the most used player in his position during his six-season spell (maximum of 26 matches in 1944–45 and a minimum of 17 in 1947–48) and winning three major titles, including two Copa del Generalísimo trophies. He was forced to retire from football at only 27, due to a lung problem.
