The 1947 Stanford Indians football team was an American football team that represented Stanford University in the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) during the 1947 college football season. In its third year under head coach Marchmont Schwartz, the team compiled a 0–9 record, finished last in the PCC, and was outscored by a total of 214 to 73. The 1947 season was one of two winless season in the history of Stanford football (the other was the 1960 Stanford Indians football team, 1960 season). Marchmont Schwartz
Marchmont H. "Marchy" Schwartz (March 20, 1909 – April 18, 1991) was an American college football player and coach. He played football at the University of Notre Dame from 1929 to 1931, and was a two-time College Football All-America Team, All-American at Halfback (American football), halfback. Schwartz served as the head football coach at Creighton University from 1935 to 1939 and at Stanford University from 1942 to 1950, compiling a career college football coaching record of 47–50–6; Stanford, like may other universities, suspended football during World War II. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a player in 1974. The 1948 Detroit Lions season was the team's 19th overall season in the league. The team failed to improve on their previous season's output of 3–9, winning only two games. They failed to qualify for the playoffs for the 13th consecutive season. In this season they used scarlet and black uniforms instead of the traditional Honolulu blue and silver. The 1947 Oregon Webfoots football team was an American football team that represented the University of Oregon in the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) during the 1947 college football season. In its third season under head coach Jim Aiken, the team compiled a 7–3 record (5–1 in PCC, tie for second), and outscored their opponents 174 to 121. Quarterback Norm Van Brocklin led the PCC with 76 completions for 939 passing yards and an average of 40.1 yards per punt.
