1947 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 1947 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 59th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures was made at the Cork Convention on 26 January 1947. The championship began on 6 April 1947 and ended on 19 October 1947. St. Finbarr's entered the championship as the defending champions. On 19 October 1947, St. Finbarr's won the championship following a 4–6 to 4–4 defeat of Sarsfields in the final. This was their 14th championship title overall and their second title in succession. Seán Condon
Seán Condon (11 June 1923 – 27 October 2001) was an Irish hurler who played as a centre-forward at senior level for the Cork county team. Condon joined the team during the 1942 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1951 championship. During that time he won three All-Ireland medals and three Munster medals. An All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion, Condon captained Cork to a fourth successive All-Ireland title in 1944. At club level Condon was a four-time county club championship medalist with St Finbarr's. Playing career Club Condon played his club hurling with St Finbarr's and had much success. Cork Athletic Grounds
The Cork Athletic Grounds was a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) stadium where major hurling and football matches were played. Situated in the Ballintemple area of Cork in Ireland, it was the home of Cork GAA between 1904 and 1974. The stadium was demolished in 1974 and replaced by Páirc Uí Chaoimh. History In late 1902 an attempt was made by the Cork County Board of the GAA to provide Cork city with a dedicated athletic stadium. Seandun GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division in the city of Cork, Ireland. It is one of eight divisions of Cork County Board. It organizes competitions for the clubs within the division, at adult level. The winners of these competitions compete against other divisional champions to determine which club is the county champion. Innishannon or Inishannon () is a large village on the main Cork (city), Cork–Bandon, County Cork, Bandon road (N71 road (Ireland), N71) in County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Blackrock National Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located on the southside of Cork City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1883 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. No other Cork-based GAA club has won more Senior County Hurling titles or All-Ireland Club Championships.
