1945 Meistaradeildin was the third season of Meistaradeildin, the top tier of the Faroese football league system. The teams were separated in three groups based on geographical criteria. KÍ Klaksvík defeated SÍ Sørvágur 1–0 in the championship final. Qualifying round East B36 and HB played only once against each other. West MB withdrew after its first game. Faroe Islands Premier League
The Faroe Islands Premier League (also known as ''Betri deildin menn'' for sponsorship reasons) is the top level of football in the Faroe Islands. It was founded in 1942 as Meistaradeildin, and it is played in current format since 2005, when Premier League replaced 1. deild as the country's top football division. The league is organised by the Faroe Islands Football Association. It is contested by 10 clubs. At the end of every season, two teams are relegated and two promoted from 1. deild. All teams in the league have semi-professional status. As of April 2022, the Faroe Islands Premier League is ranked 44th out of 55 leagues in the UEFA coefficient. Klaksvíkar Ítróttarfelag ( Faroese for ''Sports Club of Klaksvík''), commonly known as KÍ, is a Faroese professional football club based in Klaksvík. The club was founded in 1904 and is one of the most successful Faroese football clubs, having won the Faroe Islands Premier League 20 times and the Faroe Islands Cup 6 times. The club wears blue and white and plays matches at the Við Djúpumýrar stadium. History KÍ won the inaugural edition of Faroese top-tier football in 1942. In 1992, KÍ Klaksvík participated for the first time on a European stage, competing in the Champions League preliminary round against Skonto Riga of Latvia, where they lost 6–1 on aggregate. The teams were separated in four groups based on geographical criteria; the winner of each group would qualify for the semi-finals. Each group had its own qualification format. TB Tvøroyri defeated MB Miðvágur 3–2 on aggregate in the championship final. Qualifying round East Middle The match was played on 20 June. The Faroe Islands are an island group consisting of eighteen islands between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic, about half-way between Iceland and Norway. Its coordinates are . B36 Tórshavn ( fo, Bóltfelagið 1936 Tórshavn) is a Faroe Islands, Faroese semi professional Association football, football club based in the capital of Tórshavn, playing in the Faroe Islands Premier League, the top tier of Faroese football. B36 Tórshavn has always played its home games in Gundadalur. Originally all Faroese football teams played on gravel grounds, but starting in the late 1980s the grounds were changed into second generation artificial turf. Havnar Bóltfelag (HB, lit. 'Harbour football club') is a Faroese football club, and is one of the oldest in the Faroe Islands. The club was founded in 1904, and is based in the city of Tórshavn. Home matches are played in Gundadalur and they compete in the Faroe Islands Premier League. History HB Tórshavn was founded in October 1904. The club's first board was elected in a meeting, on 14 November 1904. The board consisted of three people: Mads Andrias Winther, Joan Pauli Joensen and Jakup Mouritsen. The future mayor of Tórshavn (1909–12), Mads Andrias Winther, was HB's first chairman. HB's first match against TB Tvøroyri took place on 23 May 1909, in Tvøroyri. The match ended in a 2–2 draw. SÍF Sandavágur
SÍF Sandavágur is a Faroese Football club based in Sandavágur on the island of Vágar. History SÍF Sandavágur was founded in 1906; although the club is one of oldest in the Faroe Islands, SÍF only played in the top division (now Betri Deildin) three times: 1989, 1990 and 1992, since the league's creation in 1942. The best league finish in the top flight was 8th Place in 1989. In 1993, SÍF merged with MB Miðvágur to form FS Vágar. SÍ Sørvágur also became part of the merger in 1998. They played in the top league between 1995–97 and again in 2000. After the 2004 season the merger collapsed and the 3 clubs separated. After the split, SIF Sandavágur joined 3. deild (the fourth league) in the 2007 season, this was the last season they played at adult level and the club hasn't participated in the Football League since. Miðvágs Bóltfelag, commonly known as MB, is a Faroese football club based in Miðvágur. History The club was established in 1905. In 1993, the club merged with SÍF Sandavágur to form FS Vágar. After the merger collapsed in 2004, MB was moved to the fourth division to start over. In their first year as a senior club in over a decade, MB demolished all opposition in the fourth division, ending the year with a 7–2 thumping of HB's fourth division team, mainly consisting of veterans who at an earlier stage of their career had played for HB's first team. Notable figures in Faroese football, such as Gunnar Mohr and Kaj Leo Johannesen played on this team. MB played in the Faroese 2nd division (3rd tier), after a disappointing season in 2007, ending up in seventh place. Vágs Bóltfelag
Vágs Bóltfelag (VB) is a Faroese handball club. It started as a football club, which was founded on 5 June 1905, but later the sport handball became a part of the club. The handball club is based in Vágur in Suðuroy. They play their home matches in the sports hall, Vágshøll on Eiðinum in Vágur. The football club is now known as FC Suðuroy. Women's handball VB was earlier a handball club for men and women. But since the football competition was changed, so it now starts earlier and ends later, it is not possible anymore, or at least very difficult, for the same person to play both handball and football. So now the handball in Vágur is mostly for women and football is mostly for the men, in the best divisions anyway, the men have a team in the second best division. The population is only 1400, there are not enough people to get good teams in both sports for both genders in such a small village.
