The 1940–41 Ranji Trophy was the seventh season of the Ranji Trophy. Nineteen teams took part in four zones in a knockout format. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India. Its headquarters are situated at Cricket centre, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The BCCI is the richest governing body of cricket in the world and is part of the ''Big Three'' of international cricket, along with Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board. Northern India Cricket Team
The Northern India cricket team was an Indian domestic cricket team that competed in the Ranji Trophy between 1934–35 and 1946–47. It played its home matches in Lahore. Captained by George Abell, Northern India finished runner-up in the first Ranji Trophy in 1934–35. In the 10 seasons in which it competed in the Ranji Trophy, Northern India played 23 matches, winning 12, losing 9 and drawing 4, and reaching the semi-finals seven times. After the establishment of Pakistan in 1947, players from Northern India formed the nucleus of the Pakistan cricket team. When Pakistan played its first match, against West Indies in November 1948, nine of the 11 players had played for Northern India in the Ranji Trophy. Not Out
In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. Vijay Hazare
Vijay Samuel Hazare (11 March 1915 – 18 December 2004) was an Indian cricketer. He captained India in 14 matches between 1951 and 1953. In India's 25th Test match, nearly 20 years after India achieved Test status, he led India to its first ever Test cricket win (and the only victory under his captaincy) in 1951–52 against England at Madras, winning by an innings and eight runs in a match that began on the day that King George VI died. Early life Hazare was born in Sangli, into Marathi Christian family, in the then Bombay Presidency of British India in 1916, one of eight children of a school teacher. Career Primarily a right-hand batsman, Hazare was also a right-hand medium-pace bowler. The Hyderabad cricket team is a domestic cricket team based in the city of Hyderabad, Telangana, run by the Hyderabad Cricket Association. It is part of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group and has seen scattered success over its many years in the Ranji Trophy circuit. Over its long history in the Ranji Trophy it has won twice and come runner up three times and has made one appearance in the Irani Trophy. Karnataka cricket team represents the Indian state of Karnataka in domestic cricket competitions. The Uttar Pradesh cricket team, formerly United Provinces Cricket Team, is a domestic cricket team which is based in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, run by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association. The Bengal cricket team represents the Indian state of West Bengal in domestic first-class cricket. It is considered Eastern India's strongest cricket team. The Bihar cricket team represents the state of Bihar in Indian domestic cricket competitions. It is run by Bihar Cricket Association. History 1936 to 2004 The team competed in the Ranji Trophy from 1936-37 until 2003–04.
