The 1936 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final was the 49th All-Ireland Final and the deciding match of the 1936 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, an inter-county Gaelic football tournament for the top teams in Ireland. Seamus O'Malley, a native to Lavalley, Ballinrobe Co.Mayo was captain of the victorious team. Paddy Munnelly scored a hat-trick as Mayo coasted to an easy victory. Laois's Bill Delaney played with two broken bones in his foot. Bill Delaney
Bill Delaney (11 June 1915 – 2000) was a famous Gaelic footballer from Laois. His death at the age of 85 in July 2000 reminded of a decades-long career in the GAA as a player, referee and administrator. Career From a famous footballing family he played Gaelic football at club, county and provincial level during the 1930s and 1940s and was regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time. Delaney played for Laois in the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship final of 1932 and when he made his senior debut at the age of 18 the following year he commenced an inter-county career that saw him play in 18 successive championships. Henry Kenny
Henry Frances Kenny (7 September 1913 – 25 September 1975) was an Irish Fine Gael politician who served as Minister of State at the Department of Finance from 1973 to 1975. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) from 1954 to 1975. He was the father of former Taoiseach Enda Kenny. He was also a Gaelic footballer who won an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medal with the Mayo county team in 1936. Early life Kenny was born on Main Street, Castlebar, County Mayo, in 1913. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag.
