1931 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 1931 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 43rd staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place at the Cork Convention on 25 January 1931. The championship began on 22 March 1931 and ended on 13 December 1931. Blackrock were the defending champions. On 13 December 1931, Blackrock won the championship following a 2–4 to 0–3 defeat of Éire Óg in the final. This was their 21st championship title overall and their third successive title. Sarsfields GAA is a hurling club is based in the Riverstown and Glanmire area of County Cork. The club plays in the Imokilly division of Cork GAA. Seán Óg Murphy
John Francis "Seán Óg" Murphy (17 September 1892 – 11 June 1956) was an Irish Hurling, hurler who played as a full-back for the Cork GAA, Cork senior team. Born in Cork (city), Merchant Street, Cork, Murphy first played competitive hurling during his schooling at the The North Monastery, North Monastery. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of fifteen when he first linked up with the Cork senior team. He made his debut in the 1914 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, 1914 championship. Murphy went on to play a key role for the next fifteen years, and won three All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland medals and six Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Munster medals. An All-Ireland runner-up on three occasions, Murphy also captained the team to All-Ireland victory in 1926 and 1928. UCC is a football and hurling club associated with University College Cork. UCC teams play in the Cork Senior Football Championship and Cork Senior Hurling Championship as well as the two main third-level competitions namely the Sigerson Cup in football, the Fitzgibbon Cup in hurling and the Ashbourne Cup in camogie. Mardyke (UCC)
The Mardyke, also referred as the Mardyke Sports Ground, is the sport and fitness facilities used by sports team representing University College Cork, the general student body, and members of the public. It is based in the Cork district of Mardyke. UCC acquired the grounds in 1911, and rented the main pitch to rugby, soccer, hockey and hurling clubs in the city for a 15% cut of the gate receipts. Outdoors, there are floodlit grass and all-weather pitches, used for soccer, rugby, Gaelic games, and hockey. Kayakers train in the adjacent North channel of the River Lee. There is a tartan track for athletics, where the Cork City Sports are held annually. The most notable performance came in the hammer throw on 3 July 1984, when Yuriy Sedykh and Sergey Litvinov broke the world record six times in one evening. Glen Rovers GAA
Glen Rovers is a Cork (city), Cork-based Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Blackpool, Cork, Ireland. The club was founded in 1916 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. They were Cork senior hurling champions in 2015 and 2016, having won their first title in 26 years in 2015. They retained the championship in 2016, when they beat Erin's Own in the final. Only Blackrock have won more Cork senior hurling championships. Hurling Colours In the early days of the club, its colours were green, white and gold.
