1930–31 FC Basel Season
The FC Basel 1930–31 season was their thirty eighth season since the club's foundation on 15 November 1893. FC Basel played their home games in the Landhof in the district Wettstein in Kleinbasel. The club's chairman was former player Otto Kuhn for the second successive year. Overview Former player Gustav Putzendopler was appointed as new coach/manager, succeeding Gyula Kertész who had moved on to Hamburger SV. Putzendopler coached the team in a total of 31 matches in their 1930–31 season. 23 of these matches were in the domestic league, 19 in the qualification round and four in the final round. Further, one match was in the Swiss Cup and seven games were friendly matches. Of these seven friendlies three were played at home in the Landhof, one other game was played in Switzerland, two in Germany and one in Mulhouse. Gstaad
Gstaad ( ; ) is a town in the German-speaking section of the Canton of Bern in southwestern Switzerland. It is part of the municipality of Saanen and is known as a major ski resort and a popular destination amongst high society and the international jet set. The winter campus of the Institut Le Rosey is located in Gstaad. Gstaad has a population of about 9,200 and is located above sea level. The Swiss Open Gstaad (currently sponsored by EFG International and called the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad) is a tennis tournament held in Gstaad, Switzerland. The tournament is played on outdoor clay courts. Between 1971 and 1989 it was an event of the Grand Prix tennis circuit and is now a part of the ATP Tour schedule as an ATP Tour 250 series event. The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. Hector Fisher
Hector Cosmo Fisher (born 4 May 1901) was an English-Swiss-Thai tennis player and footballer. Personal life Fisher was born in Myaungmya, Burma in 1901 and baptised in Bassein, Bengal, British India in August 1902. He was the son of Henry Cosmo-Fisher (1874–1918) and Annie Fisher. His father was an Anglo-Indian born in Bangalore. He had a younger brother, Colin Cosmo-Fisher (1903–1964). He was described as a cosmopolitan "Burmese-Siamese-English-Swiss" athlete. Fisher attended Oxford University, and played tennis there before he moved to Switzerland. Tennis Fisher was above all an excellent tennis player. He represented Switzerland during his tennis career and played in the Davis Cup in the years between 1931 and 1939. Fisher won the Swiss Open in Gstaad four times in 1923, 1928, 1929 and 1931. Jørgen Juve (22 November 1906 – 12 April 1983) was a Norwegian association football, football player, jurist, journalist and non-fiction writer. He played as a striker for F.C. Lyn Oslo, Lyn, and also for the Norway national football team, Norway national team. He is the highest-scoring player ever for Norway, with 33 goals in just 45 games. He was captain of the Norway team which won Olympic bronze medals in the 1936 Summer Olympics. He also had a career as a journalist for ''Dagbladet'' and ''Tidens Tegn'', and wrote several books. FC Grenchen
FC Grenchen is a Swiss football club, based in Grenchen. They currently play in the 2. Liga, and play their matches at the Brühl Stadium. History FC Grenchen was founded in 1906. In 1937 they gained promotion to the top league of Swiss football, Nationalliga A, in these inter-war years they came runners-up in this league three times, and runner up in the cup, but their biggest success came post-war coming second in the league one further time before winning the cup the following season in 1960.
