1930 VFL Grand Final
The 1930 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Collingwood Football Club and Geelong Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on 11 October 1930. It was the 32nd annual Grand Final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1930 VFL season. The match, attended by 45,022 spectators, was won by Collingwood by a margin of 30 points, marking that club's ninth premiership victory and fourth in succession. As of 2022, Collingwood is the only team in VFL/AFL history to win 4 consecutive premiersips. Fred Froude
Frederick Ernest Froude (3 July 1910 – 16 June 1978) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood and coached St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Although Froude played most of his career as a half back flanker, he started as a forward and kicked 30 goals in the 1931 VFL season. He played in five grand finals for three premierships; 1930, 1935 and 1936. In 1948, nine years after retiring, Froude returned to the VFL as coach of St Kilda. Harry Collier
Harry Collier (1 October 1907 – 16 August 1994) was an Australian rules footballer in the Victorian Football League. Family Collier was the older brother of former champion Collingwood player (and the 1929 Brownlow Medal winner) Albert. Playing career Originally from Ivanhoe, Victoria, Collier played for the Collingwood Football Club, debuting in 1926. Collier was a player in Collingwood's legendary premiership sides from 1927–1930, the only side to have won four premierships in a row in the entire history of the VFL/AFL. He was appointed captain in 1935, a position which he held until 1939. During this period, his team won two premierships (in 1935 and 1936)), and finished runners-up in the other three years he was captain. John Robert Beveridge (8 May 1907 – 30 June 1986) was an Australian rules footballer who represented in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and West Perth in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). Family The son of Paul Robert Beveridge (1876–1943) and Catherine Mary Beveridge (1875–1961), née Prendeville, John Robert Beveridge was born at Collingwood, Victoria on 8 May 1907. Jock McHale
James Francis "Jock" McHale, (12 December 1882 – 4 October 1953) was an Australian rules football player and coach for the Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League in a marathon career that extended from 1903 to 1949. Early life The son of an Irish-born policeman, John Francis, and his wife Mary (née Gibbons), the young McHale was born in Sydney, New South Wales, but moved to Melbourne with his family at age 5. He attended St Brigid's primary school in North Fitzroy and St Paul's in Coburg, then moved on to Christian Brothers' College (Parade) in East Melbourne and completed three years of secondary school. Having just turned 15, he left school to take a position with the McCracken Brewery.
