General elections were held in British India in September 1930."General Election in India Public Apathy", ''The Times'', 26 July 1930, p12, Issue 45575 They were boycotted by the Indian National Congress and marked by public apathy. The newly elected Central Legislative Assembly met for the first time on 14 January 1931. Hari Singh Gour
Sir Hari Singh Gour (26 November 1870 – 25 December 1949) was a distinguished lawyer, jurist, educationist, social reformer, poet, and novelist. Gour was the First Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi and Nagpur University, founder and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sagar, Deputy President of the Central Legislative Assembly of British India, an Indian Delegate to the Joint Parliamentary Committee, a Member of the Indian Central Committee associated with the Royal Commission on the Indian Constitution (popularly known as the Simon Commission), and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. Early years Hari Singh Gour was born on 26 November 1870 to a poor family near Sagar, in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Bhaskarrao Jadhav
Bhaskarrao Vithojirao Jadhav (17 June 1867 – 26 June 1950) was an Indian politician, social reformer, and leader of the Satyashodhak Samaj, Non-Brahmin movement and the co-operative movement. Bhaskarrao Jadhav started his career as an administrator in the Kolhapur princely state in 1895. He worked as the Superintendent or administrator of Kolhapur municipality from 1904 to 1918. Jadhav was nominated to the Bombay Legislative Council in 1922 and subsequently elected to the Council twice from Satara constituency in 1923 and 1926. Under the system of diarchy in Bombay Presidency, he served as a Minister of Education from 1923 to 1927 and Minister of Forest, Excise & Agriculture from 1928 to 1930. Madan Mohan Malaviya ( (25 December 1861 — 12 November 1946) was an Indian scholar, educational reformer and politician notable for his role in the Indian independence movement. He was president of the Indian National Congress four times and the founder of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha. He was addressed as ''Pandit'', a title of respect, and also as ''Mahamana'' (Great Soul). Malaviya strove to promote modern education among Indians and co-founded the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at Varanasi in 1916, which was created under the 1915 BHU Act. Bhai Parmanand
Bhai Parmanand (4 November 1876 – 8 December 1947) was an indian nationalism, Indian nationalist and a prominent leader of the Hindu Mahasabha. Early life Parmanand was born into a prominent family of the Punjab (India), Punjab, Mohyal Brahmins. Kottal Uppi Saheb Bahadur
K. Uppi Saheb, or Kottal Uppi Saheb Bahadur, (1891–1972) was an Indian politician and social worker from Kannur, north Kerala. Kottal Uppi, from an elite Mappila family from north Malabar with a mercantile background, was educated at Tellicherry Brennen College and Mohammedans College, Madras. He was elected to the Madras Legislative Council from a Muslim seat in 1923. He was re-elected to the legislative council in 1926 (as a Congress member supported by the Swaraj Party). He is said to have maintained "tenuous and cautious" links with the Khilafat Movement at this time.
