Football (soccer)
Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposition by moving the ball beyond the goal line into a rectangular framed goal defended by the opposing side. Traditionally, the game has been played over two 45 minute halves, for a total match time of 90 minutes. With an estimated 250 million players active in over 200 countries, it is considered the world's most popular sport. The game of association football is played in accordance with the Laws of the Game, a set of rules that has been in effect since 1863 with the International Football Association Board (IFAB) maintaining them since 1886. Sigge Parling
Sigvard Emanuel "Sigge" Parling (26 March 1930 – 17 September 2016) was a Swedish football player. He also played ice hockey and bandy. During his career he played for Djurgårdens IF (1949–1960), IK Sirius (1960–1963) and Gefle IF (1963–1965). His position was left midfielder and was considered a very rough but fair player. During his time in Djurgården he was known as the first '' Järnkamin'' (Iron Stove). Parling was capped 195 times for Djurgården and scored 12 goals. He won the Swedish Championship twice with Djurgårdens IF, 1955 and 1959. Parling was part of the legendary Swedish national team at the 1958 FIFA World Cup and was capped 37 times for his country. Parling is the only player from Djurgårdens IF who has played a World Cup Final. He died on 17 September 2016 at the age of 86. Bora Kostić
Borivoje "Bora" Kostić ( sr-Cyrl, Бopивoje "Бора" Kocтић, ; 14 June 1930 – 10 January 2011) was a Serbian footballer. Normally a prolific left winger, Kostić is regarded as one of finest Yugoslav players of his generation and was well known for powerful shot and free kick ability. He was part of the Yugoslav squad that won gold at the 1960 Summer Olympics. During his club career he played for Red Star Belgrade, Lanerossi Vicenza and St. Louis Stars. He earned 33 caps and 26 goals for the Yugoslavia national football team, and participated in the 1960 European Nations' Cup. Hugh Baird (footballer)
Hugh Baird (14 March 1930 – 19 June 2006) was a Scottish footballer, who played for Airdrieonians, Leeds United and Aberdeen. He also represented the Scotland national football team on one occasion against Austria at Hampden Park. Glasgow. Baird started his professional playing career aged 21 with Scottish Football League side Airdrieonians, whom he joined from Dalry Thistle. A striker, he quickly gained a reputation as a prolific goal scorer. In 1957 Leeds United signed him for £12,000 but he only stayed one season in England. In 1958 Aberdeen paid a then club record transfer fee of £11,500 to ensure his return north. He stayed with Aberdeen until 1962 making 86 appearances for the ''Dons''. Igor Aleksandrovich Netto (russian: Игорь Александрович Нетто; 9 January 1930 – 30 March 1999) was a Soviet footballer, considered one of the greatest Soviet players ever. He started out playing on the left of defense but, due to his offensive mentality, dribbling and technical abilities turned into a dynamic central midfielder. First Vienna FC is an Austrian association football club based in the Döbling district of Vienna. Established on 22 August 1894, it is the country's oldest team and has played a notable role in the history of the game there.
