1929–31 Balkan Cup
The 1929–31 Balkan Cup was the competition's first edition. Four teams participated: Romania, Greece, Yugoslavia, and Bulgaria Bulgaria (; bg, България, Bǎlgariya), officially the Republic of Bulgaria,, ) is a country in Southeast Europe. It is situated on the eastern flank of the Balkans, and is bordered by Romania to the north, Serbia and North Macedo .... Romania won the trophy ahead of second placed Yugoslavia. Greece came third and Bulgaria was last. The best goalscorers were Bodola and Wetzer, both from Romania and with 7 goals each. Albania had registered for the tournament, but retired before the beginning and did not participate. Iuliu Bodola
Iuliu Bodola ( hu, Bodola Gyula; 26 February 1912 – 12 March 1993) was a Romanian- Hungarian association football striker who played internationally both for Romania and Hungary. His nickname was ''Duduş''/''Dudus''. He is Romania's third all-time top goalscorer, and he is also the all-time top goal scorer of the Balkan Cup. Club career Bodola started his career in 1929 (aged 17) for Clubul Atletic Oradea, before joining Venus București, with whom he was the champion of Romania in 1938–39 and 1939–40. When Northern Transylvania became part of the Kingdom of Hungary in August 1940, he preferred to play for Nagyváradi AC, and with them he was champion of Hungary in 1943–44. After the end of the war, he returned to Romania (Ferar Cluj-Napoca), but in 1946 he left again for Hungary ( MTK), where he lived in Budapest until the end of his life. In November 2008, the name of the ''Municipal Stadium'' in Oradea was named after him, becoming the Stadionul Iuliu Bodola. ... Dinos Andrianopulos
In the typology of ancient Greek pottery, the ''dinos'' (plural ''dinoi'') is a mixing bowl or cauldron. ''Dinos'' means "drinking cup," but in modern typology is used (wrongly) for the same shape as a '' lebes'', that is, a bowl with a spherical body meant to sit on a stand. It has no handles and no feet. Asen Peshev
Asen Peshev () (5 March 1908-28 June 1967) was а Bulgarian footballer who played as a striker or left wing. Club career He started playing in the Sofia club Vladislav in 1923. In 1924 he moved to Levski Sofia where he stayed thirteen seasons. He also played in Jidenitse and Moravska Slava Burno. In Levski he played ninety-nine games scoring a total of eighty-six goals. International career On the Bulgarian national team he played during 1927-1936 in forty games (eighteen of which he was captain), scoring eleven goals. Remarkably, he achieved this without ever scoring a brace. He was declared the number 1 footballer in Bulgaria in 1931 in a survey of the popular players in the magazine ''Sport.'' Velcho Stoyanov (; 1907 – 1982), was a Bulgarian football player. He captained Slavia Sofia, which he led to the team's first national championship in 1928, and again in 1930. Nikola Staykov (, 1907–1974) was a Bulgarian football player. He was a striker who played for Slavia Sofia and for the Bulgarian national side. With Slavia he won the national championship on three occasions. Vasilios Andrianopoulos ( el, Βασίλειος Ανδριανόπουλος; 1908 – 1989) was a Greek footballer. He was Giannis Andrianopoulos' brother. Emerich (Imre) Vogl (born 12 August 1905 in Temesvár, Austria-Hungary (now Romania) – died 29 October 1971 in Bucharest, Romania) was a Romanian football player and coach of Banat Swabian ethnicity who was a member of Romanian team which participated at the 1930 FIFA World Cup in Uruguay and 1934 FIFA World Cup in Italy.
