The following article presents a summary of the 1916 football (soccer) season in Brazil, which was the 15th season of competitive football in the country. Campeonato Paulista In 1916 there were two different editions of the Campeonato Paulista. One was organized by the Associação Paulista de Esportes Atléticos (APEA) while the other one was organized by the Liga Paulista de Foot-Ball (LPF). APEA's Campeonato Paulista Final Standings Paulistano declared as the APEA's Campeonato Paulista champions. LPF's Campeonato Paulista Final Standings SC Internacional de São Paulo and Germânia matches were canceled, as both clubs abandoned the competition. Campeonato Paranaense, which has been contested since 1915, is the top-flight football league of the state of Paraná, Brazil. Format The format has changed in 2014. 12 teams are together in a single group. They play against each other once, and the 8 best teams after the 11 games will play the knockout phase that teams will play against each other over two legs on a home-and-away basis. The last 4 teams will play the Torneio da Morte, where they will play against each other two times (home-away), the best two teams will stay in the Série Ouro, the first division of the football of the state and the two worst will be relegated to the Série Prata, the second division. América Futebol Clube (also known as América Mineiro, Coelho or simply América) is a Brazilian football team from the city of Belo Horizonte, capital city of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Campeonato Mineiro is the state football league of the state of Minas Gerais and is controlled by the Minas Gerais Football Federation FMF (Federação Mineira de Futebol). The history of Campeonato Mineiro can be divided into two parts: before and after the construction of the Mineirão, in September 1966. The Mineirão is the biggest football stadium of Minas Gerais and it is located in Minas Gerais' state capital, Belo Horizonte. The Campeonato Baiano is the football league of the state of Bahia, Brazil. The championship has been played since 1905 without interruption. 2020 format First stage: 10 teams are included in one group, playing once only against all teams in the group. The four best teams qualify to the semifinals, while the last-placed team is relegated to the Second Level. Final stage The four best teams play in a two-legged knockout tie, with the first facing the fourth and the second facing the third placed. The Campeonato Amazonense, officially Campeonato Amazonense de Futebol Profissional, is the football championship for professional clubs of the state of Amazonas, Brazil.
