The 1911–12 Challenge Cup was the 16th staging of rugby league's oldest knockout competition, the Challenge Cup. The final was contested by Dewsbury and Oldham at Headingley Rugby Stadium in Leeds. The final was played on Saturday, 27 April 1912, where Dewsbury caused an upset to beat Oldham 8–5 at Headingley in front of a crowd of 15,271. Dewsbury won the Challenge Cup in their first appearance in the final. Dewsbury Rams
The Dewsbury Rams are a professional English rugby league club based in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire that compete in the Championship. They play their home games at the Tetley's Stadium, on Owl Lane. The Rams' main fanbase comes from their hometown of Dewsbury, but they also hold a strong following in Shaw Cross as well as in neighbouring Gawthorpe and Ossett, among other places. Prior to the 1997 season, the club was known as Dewsbury R.L.F.C. The club won their sole league title in 1972–73, after finishing the regular season in 8th place. Oldham is a large town in Greater Manchester, England, amid the Pennines and between the rivers Irk and Medlock, southeast of Rochdale and northeast of Manchester. Headingley Rugby Stadium
Headingley Rugby Stadium shares the same site as Headingley Cricket Ground and is home to Leeds Rhinos. Headingley is the List of Rugby League stadiums in England, 5th largest rugby league stadium in England. History 1889-1980s: Construction and development Leeds St Johns, who were later to become Leeds Rugby League Football Club then Leeds Rhinos, moved to Headingley in 1889 and built Headingley stadium. Leeds were founder members of the Rugby Football League, Northern Union in 1895 and Headingley hosted rugby league's first ever Challenge Cup Final in 1897. In the 1930s, major developments took place on two sides of the rugby ground.
