1911 Copa Del Rey
The Copa del Rey 1911 was the 10th staging of the Copa del Rey, the Spain, Spanish Association football, football cup competition. The competition started on 9 April 1911, and concluded on 15 April 1911, with the 1911 Copa del Rey Final, final, held at the Josaleta Stadium in Getxo, in which Athletic Bilbao lifted the trophy for the 5th time ever with a 3–1 victory over RCD Espanyol, CD Español. The Bilbao goals were scored by Martyn Veitch, Luis Belaunde and Manuel Guernica. This tournament had 13 teams enter, but three teams withdrew before it started, and another three teams withdrew during the competition. Controversies Deportivo de La Coruña, RC Deportivo de la Coruña and Academia de Ingenieros withdrew before the draw to protest fielding foreign players in the tournament. During the tournament, there were more protests and withdrawal threats from some teams. Real Club Fortuna De Vigo
Real Fortuna Football Club, was a Spanish football club based in Vigo, Galicia, founded in 1905. Background Vigo was one of the cities through which football entered the Iberian Peninsula, thanks to British sailors and workers. The first demonstrations of the sport were made by the team of the British company Electric Telegraph Company, which was installing the telegraph cable between the islands and Vigo, to connect with Lisbon from there. Armando Giralt
Armando Giralt Iduate (23 March 1885 - 21 April 1948) was a Cuban-born Spanish footballer who played as a forward for Madrid FC, Club Español de Madrid and RCD Espanyol. He was a member of some of the oldest football entities in Spain, such as Sky Football, Madrid Football Club and the Club Deportivo Español, being a founding member of the first two together with his older brothers José and Mario, who were also footballers. He is best known for scoring the very first competitive goal in the history of the Real Madrid team against Espanyol on 6 April 1903. He reached the final of the Copa del Rey numerous times with three different clubs, becoming over the years one of the footballers who added the most presences in finals, winning two of them. Alfredo Massana
Alfredo Massana Urgellés (27 July 1891 - 24 March 1924), was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder for Espanyol and FC Barcelona. He had a great placement and vision of the game. Known as a great dribbler, he was one of the best Catalan midfielders of his time. His brother, Santiago Massana, also played for Espanyol and Barcelona. He is also the grandfather of the pianist Tete Montoliu. An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership).
