1894 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1894 was the eighth series of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, Ireland's premier hurling knock-out competition. Cork won the championship, beating Dublin in the final. Teams A total of five teams contested the championship. Dublin (Rapparees) and Kilkenny (Confederation) were the only teams to enter the Leinster championship. They both automatically qualified for the provincial final. Stephen Hayes (hurler)
Stephen Hayes (1860 – 15 September 1929) was an Irish hurler. He played with club side Blackrock and at inter-county level with Cork. Hayes captained Cork to a third All-Ireland victory in-a-row in 1894. Career Hayes had his first hurling success when the Blackrock Nationals club won the inaugural Cork County Hurling Championship in 1887. It was the first of five such victories in seven seasons, with Hayes captaining the team in 1891 and 1894. Hayes first played for Cork when he captained the team for the 1899 Munster Championship. He captained the team for a second time during Cork's unsuccessful 1891 campaign. Hayes returned for a third stint as captain when Cork beat Tipperary by 3-04 to 1-02 to win the Munster Championshi in 1894. He later captained the team to a 5-20 to 2-00 defeat of Dublin in the 1894 All-Ireland final, in what was a record third successive title for Cork. Connacht
Connacht ( ; ga, Connachta or ), is one of the provinces of Ireland, in the west of Ireland. The championship began on 20 September 1891 and ended on 28 February 1892. Cork were the defending champions, however, they were defeated in the provincial series. Kilmoyley are a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Kerry, Ireland. They are located in North Kerry, the main hurling area of Kerry and are primarily hurlers. The 1889 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the third staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 27 July 1889 and ended on 3 November 1889. Tipperary were the defending champions; however, they were defeated in the provincial series. Dublin won the title following a 5-1 to 1-6 defeat of Clare in the final. Teams A total of ten teams contested the championship, one less than the previous year. It was the first championship to be completed since 1887. The 1892 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the sixth staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 30 October 1892 and ended on 26 March 1893. Kerry were the defending champions, however, they were defeated in the provincial series. Cork won the All-Ireland title, after defeating Dublin by 2-3 to 1-5 in the final. Blackrock National Hurling Club
Blackrock National Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located on the southside of Cork City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1883 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. No other Cork-based GAA club has won more Senior County Hurling titles or All-Ireland Club Championships. The club is sometimes known as 'The Rockies'. History Blackrock Hurling Club was officially founded in 1883, one year before the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association itself.
