1892 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 1892 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the sixth staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 30 October 1892 and ended on 26 March 1893. Kerry were the defending champions, however, they were defeated in the provincial series. Cork won the All-Ireland title, after defeating Dublin by 2-3 to 1-5 in the final. Rule changes At the Gaelic Athletic Association's (GAA) annual congress held in Thurles on 13 January 1892, some changes were made to the existing rules of the game. Firstly, a goal was made equal to five points. Secondly, teams were reduced from twenty-one to seventeen players. Bill O'Callaghan
William Henry O’Callaghan (1868 – 16 January 1946) was an Irish hurler who played as a forward for the Cork senior team. Born in Cork, O'Callaghan first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-four when he first linked up with the Cork senior team. He made his senior debut during the 1892 championship. O'Callaghan immediately became a regular member of the team and won one All-Ireland medal and one Munster medal. In 1892 O'Callaghan captained the team to the All-Ireland title. Redmonds GAA
Redmonds is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Cork in County Cork, Ireland. The club is situated in Tower Street, on the southside of the city. The club participates in Cork GAA competitions and in Seandún divisional board competitions. The club no longer fields hurling teams but continues to participate in the Seandun junior C football competitions. History Redmonds GAA have been in the Senior Hurling Championship Finals 10 times from their first finals appearance in 1892 to their last finals appearance in 1927. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in Ireland, and has been contested every year except one since 1887. The final, currently held on the third Sunday in August, is the culmination of a series of games played during July and August, with the winning team receiving the Liam MacCarthy Cup. Kilmoyley are a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Kerry, Ireland. They are located in North Kerry, the main hurling area of Kerry and are primarily hurlers. Pat Egan (hurler)
Martin Joseph "Pat" Egan (April 25, 1918 – June 3, 2008) was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman, most notably for the Boston Bruins and New York Americans of the National Hockey League. He went on to coach the Springfield Indians of the American Hockey League to three straight Calder Cup championships, the only time that has ever been done. Playing career Born in Blackie, Alberta, Egan started his professional career with the Seattle Seahawks of the Pacific Coast Hockey League in 1938, recording 185 penalty minutes in only 44 games. The next season he played mostly for Springfield, but was recalled to make his NHL debut for the New York Americans, playing in ten games that season. He played two more seasons with the Americans' franchise before serving in the military in 1942–43.
