Oscar I Of Sweden
Oscar I (born Joseph François Oscar Bernadotte; 4 July 1799 – 8 July 1859) was King of Sweden and Norway from 8 March 1844 until his death. He was the second monarch of the House of Bernadotte. The only child of King Charles XIV John, Oscar inherited the thrones upon the death of his father. Throughout his reign he would pursue a liberal course in politics in contrast to Charles XIV John, instituting reforms and improving ties between Sweden and Norway. In an address to him in 1857, the Riksdag declared that he had promoted the material prosperity of the kingdom more than any of his predecessors. Louis Masreliez
Louis Masreliez (1748 – 19 March 1810), born Adrien Louis Masreliez, was a French born, Swedish painter and interior designer. Biography Masreliez was born in Paris and came to Sweden at the age of 5 in 1753. He was the son of French ornamental sculptor Adrien Masreliez (1717-1806) and the elder brother of sculptor Jean Baptiste Masreliez (1753–1801). He began his education at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts (''Ritakademien'') at the age of 10. Since the academy did not teach painting, he studied in Stockholm at the workshop of ornament painter Lorens Gottman (1708-1779). In 1769 he was given a study grant which he used to travel to Paris, Bologna and Rome to study. In Rome he spent time with several of the French, Italian and German artists who would shape the Neoclassicism decorative style. Johan Wilhelm Carl Wahlbom (16 October 1810 - 25 April 1858) was a Swedish painter, illustrator and sculptor. Biography His father, Adolf, was a pastor and professor and his grandfather, , was a noted doctor and scientist who studied with Carl Linnaeus. In 1824, at the age of fourteen, he became a Cadet at the Military Academy Karlberg. While there, his primary interests were gymnastics and fencing. The methods of Per Henrik Ling, a pioneer of physical education, had a great influence on his personal development. In his letters, he also expressed interest in literary and artistic endeavors and made illustrations for a student publication called ''Kornblixten'' (heat lightning). After his father died in 1828, he was forced to find employment as a teacher at the Royal Central Gymnastics Institute, which provided housing. It was there that he first met Ling. Carl August Adlersparre (7 June 1810 – 5 May 1862) was a Swedish count (1835), chamberlain (1838), poet, novelist and historian from the Adlersparre family. He was known under his pen name Albano. Metta (or Mätta) Charlotta Fock, née ''Ridderbjelke'' (10 June 1765 – 7 November 1810), was a Swedish noble and sentenced murderer. She was executed for murdering her spouse, son and daughter in order to marry her lover. Life Metta Fock was the daughter of quartermaster noble Axel Erik Ridderbjelke and Helena Margareta Gripenmark. In 1783, she married the noble sergeant Henrik Johan Fock (1757-1802). The marriage was arranged. The couple had several children, four of whom, two daughters and two sons, were alive by 1800.
