Gysbert Behagen
Gysbert Behagen (8 March 1725 – 17 December 1783) was a German-Danish merchant, ship owner and director of Danish Asia Company. His home at Strandgade 26 in the Christianshavn neighbourhood of Copenhagen is known as Behagen's House (Danish: Behagens Gård) after him. Biography Behagen was born in Hamburg, the son of wine merchant Anthony Behagen (1687-1727) and Petronelle Elisabeth Mestecker (1703-1778). His father died when he was two years old. Ludvig Harboe
Ludvig Harboe (16 August 1709 – 15 June 1783) was a Danish theologian and bishop of the Diocese of Zealand from 1757 until his death. Harboe was born at Broager Peninsula in Sønderborg, Denmark. He was mostly educated in Germany. He attended gymnasium in Hamburg, where he stayed for two years. Then he studied at the universities of Rostock, Wittenberg and Jena returning home to Broager during 1732. In 1738, Harboe was a priest at Garnisonskirken and in 1739 became a priest at Kastelskirken, both churches in Copenhagen. Harboe was sent to Iceland in 1741 to inspect the state of the church there on behalf of the Church of Denmark. He initiated some reforms there and while there (in 1743) was appointed to the post of Bishop of the Diocese of Trondhjem. After returning to Copenhagen in 1745, he was consecrated as Bishop and soon left for Trondheim, the seat of his new diocese. Abraham Pelt
Abraham Pelt (11 February 1695 - 14 April 1783) was a Danish industrialist and philanthropist. Early life Pelt was born in Copenhagen, the son of Hans Peter Pelt (died 1715) and Dorothea Kellinghusen (died 1732). In 1708, his father, who was originally from the Netherlands, obtained a license to establish Copenhagen's second sugar refinery. The sugar refineries were generally some of the most profitable industrial enterprises in the country at the time. Career Pelt inherited a thriving sugar refinery business. It was originally located in Christianshavn but relocated to No. 5 in the city's North Quarter (now Gammeltorv 14-16 and Nørregade 7) after the Copenhagen Fire of 1728. Pelt was active in the Danish Asiatic Company and served as a bank commissioner at Kurantbanken in 1759-74. Christian Molbech
Christian Molbech (8 October 1783 – 23 June 1857) was a Danish historian, literary critic, writer, and theater director. He was a professor of literature at the University of Copenhagen and was the founding editor of ''Historisk Tidsskrift Early life and education Christian Molbech was born and raised at Sorø on the island of Zealand in Denmark. He was the son of professor at Sorø Academy Johan Christian Molbech (1744-1824) and his wife Louise Philippine Friederike Tübell (1760-1829). He graduated from Sorø Academy in 1802. Career Molbech was employed at the Royal Danish Library in 1804. He was thus never formally trained as a historian. In 1829 he succeeded Knud Lyne Rahbek as professor of literature at the University of Copenhagen. He also functioned as the director of the Royal Danish Theatre from 1830 to 1842. Christian VII Of Denmark
Christian VII (29 January 1749 – 13 March 1808) was a monarch of the House of Oldenburg who was King of Denmark–Norway and Duke of Schleswig and Holstein from 1766 until his death in 1808. For his motto he chose: "''Gloria ex amore patriae''" ("Glory through love of the fatherland"). Christian VII's reign was marked by mental illness and for most of his reign, Christian was only nominally king. His royal advisers changed depending on who won power struggles around the throne. From 1770 to 1772, his court physician Johann Friedrich Struensee was the ''de facto'' ruler of the country and introduced progressive reforms signed into law by Christian VII. Struensee was deposed by a coup in 1772, after which the country was ruled by Christian's stepmother, Juliane Marie of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, his half-brother Frederick, and the Danish politician Ove Høegh-Guldberg.
