Nils Henric Liljensparre
Nils Henric Aschan Liljensparre, born ''Sivers'' (22 July 1738, Norrköping - 5 January 1814, Stockholm), was a Swedish police officer. He is most known for conducting the investigation of the regicide of king Gustav III of Sweden in 1792. Liljensparre studied law at Uppsala University and served in Svea hovrätt from 1762. He became an official at the royal council in 1765, secretary in 1772, and the head of the Stockholm police in 1776. Liljensparre is regarded as a devoted and effective police. He did, however, adjust himself to the demands of the crown even in cases when they bent the laws. This made him unpopular, but a favorite of the monarch, who ennobled him under the name Liljensparre in 1786. He organised a network of police agents in Stockholm. In 1792, he was in charge of the investigation of the regicide of King Gustav III of Sweden. Margareta Seuerling
Margaret(h)a Seuerling née ''Lindahl'' (1747–1820) was a Swedish actress and Theatre director in a travelling theatre company, perhaps the most known travelling actress of her time in Scandinavia, active in both Sweden and Finland. She was one of the first, perhaps the very first, to introduce secular theatre in Finland: her family and its company represents a large part of the theatre history in Sweden and Finland. Life Early life Born as the daughter of the actor Peter Lindahl and the actress Margareta Maria Fabritz. Her parents belonged to the first generation of Swedish actors at the theatre of Bollhuset and was both members of the board of directors of the theatre, she herself became the second generation of Swedish-speaking actors. Niclas Sahlgren
Niclas Sahlgren (in full Nicolaus Sahlgren) (18March 1701 10March 1776), was a Swedish merchant and philanthropist. Born into a wealthy merchant family in Gothenburg as the son of Nils Pehrsson Sahlgren and Sara Herwegh, Sahlgren was sent at the age of 16 as an apprentice to the Tietzen & Schröder trading house in Amsterdam, where he learned languages and other aspects of trade. Several additional years of travels on the European continent, to England, and in Sweden, gained him experience, knowledge of natural resources and important contacts. He settled in Gothenburg again on the death of his mother and became a burgess of Gothenburg in 1733. He was one of the founders of the Swedish East India Company and one of its directors from 1733 to 1768. Pär Aron Borg
Pär Aron Borg (4 July 1776 – 22 April 1839) was a Swedish language, Swedish educator and a pioneer in the education for the Blindness, blind and deaf. Biography Borg was born in the parish of Avesta in Dalarna, Sweden. After studies at Uppsala University (1796–1798), he became a secretary in the Central Government Office () in Stockholm. After having seen a play where a deaf boy communicated by gestures, he was inspired to create a manual alphabet. He began to educate deaf and blind students regularly in 1808. Following the example of''Institut National de Jeunes Sourds de Paris, l'Abbé de l'Épée'' founded by Charles-Michel de l'Épée in Paris, in 1809 he founded (Public Institute of the Blind and Deaf at Manilla; Manillaskolan). Charlotta Arfwedson
Charlotta Arfwedson (5 August 1776 - 8 September 1862) was a Swedish countess and artist. She was politically active and acted as adviser of her second spouse, nobleman Carl Carlsson Mörner (1755–1821). She was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts (1793). Biography Charlotta Arfwedson was the daughter of the merchant Carl Kristoffer Arfwedson and Katarina Charlotta von Langenberg. Her brother, merchant Carl Abraham Arfwedson (1774-1861), was a personal friend of the Swedish queen, Désirée Clary. He had come to know her while he was employed in her father's firm in Marseille and used to speak with her about memories of France. Charlotta Arfwedson first married Colonel Lieutenant Baron Casper Wrede, whom she later divorced. In 1810, she married politician Count Carl Mörner, who served as Governor-general of Norway. Gustaf Af Wetterstedt
Count Gustaf af Wetterstedt (29 December 1776 – 15 May 1837) was a Swedish statesman. He was the Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1824 to 1837. In 1811, he was elected into the Swedish Academy, and later he also became a member of the Royal Swedish Academies of Agriculture, Music and Sciences (1817). In 1821, he was elected as a member of the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia. He was invested Knight of the Order of the Seraphim. Pehr Henrik Ling
Pehr Henrik Ling (15 November 1776 in Södra Ljunga – 3 May 1839 in Stockholm) pioneered the teaching of physical education in Sweden. Ling is credited as the father of Swedish massage. Early life Ling was born in Södra Ljunga, Småland in 1776. His parents were Lars Peter Ling, a minister, and Hedvig Maria (Hedda) Molin. On his maternal side, Ling was the great-great grandson of the famous Swedish scientist Olof Rudbeck (1630–1702), who discovered the human lymphatic system. His family tree extends back to the sixteenth century and includes clergymen and peasants. His great grandfather apparently lived to 105 and had seventeen sons and two daughters. After graduating from the Växjö gymnasium in 1792, he studied theology at Lund University from 1793, completing his degree at Uppsala University in 1799.
