Friederich Ehbisch
Johan Friedrich Ehbisch (Ebisch) (1672-6 May 1748) was a Danish sculptor. Born in Copenhagen, by 1705 he was employed as a court sculptor and stonemason. He was engaged in numerous royal projects; from 1705-09 he was responsible for the decoration of the Rosenborg Castle with stucco details. From 1709-11 he added stucco ceilings to Fredensborg Castle, and from 1726-28 renovated the altar, pulpit, baptismal font and the Royal chair in Fredensborg Chapel. In 1728 he was contracted to produce work for four churches which had been burned down in Copenhagen, the Frue, Petri, Helliggejst and Trinitatis churches. His works were mainly in the Late Baroque style, with many marble works. His house at Åbenrå 25 Åbenrå 25 is an 18th-century town house located at Åbenrå 25 in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark. Hans Gram (historian)
Hans Gram (28 October 1685– 19 February 1748) was a Danish academic, philologist and historian. Biography Gram was born at Bjergby in Hjørring on North Jutlandic Island, Denmark. His father was a parish priest. In 1703, he graduated from the University of Copenhagen. In 1708 he acquired a Master's Degree. In 1714 he became a professor of Greek at the University of Copenhagen. In 1730 he was named royal historian and royal librarian as well as manager of the Royal Library and the secretary of the Royal Archives. From 1740, he returned to the University of Copenhagen where he served as rector from 1744-1745. He is best known for his critical editions of old Danish history, being credited with the discovery of many new sources and the correction of countless errors pertaining to Danish history. Amalie Sophie Holstein
Amalie Sofie Holstein (1748-1823), was a Danish noblewoman and courtier, known for her love life and unconventional life style, known in history as one of the Three Graces of the Danish royal court. Life She was the daughter of Schack von Buchwald til Johannisdorff and Eleonora Elisabet von Plessen. She married courtier Count Ulrik Adolf Holstein in 1763. In 1765 her spouse was appointed ambassador to Berlin, however during a court ball she convinced the king to appoint another to the post because she did not wish to leave Denmark. Influencing government policy in this manner was regarded as a scandal. As a result the king appointed her spouse to a post in the Danish countryside, which reportedly they both found a less than pleasing place to reside. She was a cousin of Ida Hedevig Moltke, and her relative Charlotte Elisabeth Henriette Holstein served as the chief lady-in-waiting to queen Caroline Matilda. Christian Ditlev Frederik Reventlow
Christian Ditlev Frederik, Count of Reventlow (11 March 1748 – 11 October 1827) was a Danish statesman and reformer, the son of Privy Councillor Christian Ditlev Reventlow (1710–1775) by his first wife, baroness Johanne Sophie Frederikke von Bothmer. His influence on the life of the Danish people and, particularly, the conditions of the peasantry, made him very popular. He was the brother of Johan Ludvig Reventlow which in the late 1700s served as his colleague, of salonist Louise Stolberg, who was his intellectual partner and opponent through their extensive mail correspondence, and of Commodore Conrad Georg Reventlow. Reventlow was one of the politicians behind the dissolution of the stavnsbånd, which was a serfdom-like institution, bonding men between the ages of 18 and 36 to live on the estate where they were born. Frederick V Of Denmark
Frederick V (Danish and Norwegian: ''Frederik V''; 31 March 1723 – 14 January 1766) was King of Denmark–Norway and Duke of Schleswig-Holstein from 6 August 1746 until his death in 1766. He was the son of Christian VI of Denmark and Sophie Magdalene of Brandenburg-Kulmbach. Although the personal influence of Frederick was limited, his reign was marked by the progress of commerce and trade, and art and science prospered under his reign. Unlike his parents who were deeply devoted to Pietism, Frederick grew into a hedonist. As regent, he took part in the conduct of government by attending council meetings, but he was afflicted by alcoholism and most of his rule was dominated by able ministers who were influenced by the ideas of the Age of Enlightenment. His ministers marked his reign by the progress of commerce and the emerging industry. They also avoided involving Denmark-Norway in the European wars of his time.
