Jens Schielderup Sneedorff
Jens Schielderup Sneedorff (22 August 1724 – 5 June 1764) was a Danish author, professor of political science and royal teacher and a central figure in Denmark in the Age of Enlightenment. Biography Sneedorff was born in Sorø, the son of the last headmaster of Sorø Academy. He studied at University of Copenhagen and University of Göttingen where he was influenced by British and French Enlightenment thinking as well as German cameralism. From his position as professor at the Sorø Academy for young noblemen and later teacher to the prince, Sneedorff played a key role in formulating the political content of "Enlightenment" in his native Denmark. Political views Sneedorff defended absolutism in a model that applied liberal thinking, primarily that of Locke and Montesquieu. A wellfunctioning polity rested according to Sneedorff on its "police", i.e. a subject and regent mentality of civic virtue, “true honour" and religion. Jens Krag-Juel-Vind
Jens Krag-Juel-Vind (15 June 1724 – 30 April 1776), Baron of Juellinge, was a Danish nobleman, Supreme Court justice and landowner. Early life and education He was born at Juellinge (now Halsted Priory), the son of Jens Juel-Vind (1694-1726) and Ide Helle Margaretha, Baroness Krag (1697-1738). He had two sisters. His father died when he was just two years old and Juellinge was then managed by his maternal uncle Niels Juel Reedtz (1699-1742) of Palsgaard and by Joachim Gersdorff. Krag-Juel-Vind studied at the University of Hannover from 1741 and at the University of Copenhagen from 1743. Career He served as an accessor in the Danish Chancellery from 1745 to 1756. On 17 October 1746, he was appointed as squire (''kammerjunker''). From 11 February 1747, he held a seat at the Supreme Court without access to vote. The Faroe Islands ( ), or simply the Faroes ( fo, Føroyar ; da, Færøerne ), are a North Atlantic island group and an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. Krogerup Højskole
Krogerup Højskole (English: Krogerup Folk High School) is a folk high school located outside Humlebæk in Fredensborg-Humlebæk Municipality north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Founded in 1953, it is based in a former manor house built from 1772 to 1777. History Krogerup Manor The earliest certain reference to Krogerup is from 1577, although Krogerup may be identical to a "Krwwerup" mentioned in the records of Æbelholt Abbey in the beginning of the 16th century. In the mid-17th century, the estate belonged to Hans Rostgaard, a civil servant who was active in the combat against invading Swedish troops. His bibliognostic son Frederik Rostgaard withdrew to Krogerup when he was banished from the Royal Court in Copenhagen in 1724 after accusations of corruption.
