12th Sarasaviya Awards
The 12th Sarasaviya Awards festival (Sinhala: 12වැනි සරසවිය සම්මාන උලෙළ), presented by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited, was held to honor the best films of 1983 Sinhala cinema on July 21, 1984, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Colombo 07, Sri Lanka. Honorable Speaker of the Parliament E. L. Senanayake was the chief guest at the awards night. Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall
The Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), ( si, බණ්ඩාරනායක ජාත්‍යාන්තර සම්මන්ත්‍රණ ශාලාව ta, பண்டாரநாயக்க சர்வதேச மாநாட்டு மண்டபம்) is a convention center located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Built between 1970 and 1973, the convention centre was a gift from the People's Republic of China in memory of Solomon Ridgeway Dias Bandaranaike, Prime Minister (1956–1959). The construction of the hall was carried out by a joint Sri Lankan and Chinese workforce with a considerable portion of the building materials being imported from China. In 1998 a small Exhibition Centre, the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre, was built on the grounds as a gift from China. The BMICH premises is managed by the S. W. R. D. Sureni Senarath
Sureni Senarath (17 June 1959 – 26 May 2021: si, සුරේනි සේනරත්) was an actress in Sri Lankan cinema, theatre and television. Family background She was born on 17 June 1959 in Colombo, Sri Lanka as the eldest of the family. She completed education from Kalutara Balika National School and Rosmead Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo 8. She was unmarried in her life. Her father Piyaratne Senarath was a film actor. Her mother Iranganie was a film producer. Sureni had one sister: Gayani and two brothers: Harsha, Prabhath, all are involved in film coordination. Piyaratne was born in 1925 and later worked in the Department of Immigration and Emigration. Sumanasiri Mallawarachchi Don (7 April 1944–10 March 1998: si, මිල්ටන් මල්ලවාරච්චි), popularly known as Milton Mallawarachchi, was a Sri Lankan singer and musician. One of the most respected singers in Sri Lankan music history, Mallawarachchi was a trending act in Sri Lanka for more than a decade, performing nearly a total of 850 songs with over 35 albums. Ajantha Ranasinghe
Ranasinghe Arachchilage Ajantha Sarath Kumara Ranasinghe (30 May 1940 – 27 February 2016), popularly as Ajantha Ranasinghe, was an award winning Sri Lankan journalist, lyricist, poet, and novelist. Considered one of the most iconic and prolific lyricists ever produced in the country, over the course of a 40 year career he contributed to nearly 60 films and more than 400 songs. Premasiri Khemadasa
Deshamanya Kala Keerthi Dr.Premasiri Khemadasa ( Sinhala: ආචාර්ය ප්‍රේමසිරි කේමදාස ) (25 January 1937 – 24 October 2008) also known as "Khemadasa Master" was a Sri Lankan music composer.
