12th Quartermaster Regiment (PS)
The 12th Quartermaster Regiment was a regiment of the United States which was charged with quartermaster duties such as supplying all necessary ordnance, food, clothing, and supplies to the Philippine Division. Their colors were the only ones saved – entrusted to one of the "Angels of Bataan" who tricked a captor into thinking they were a cape and saved them through more than three years of internment – after the Division was forced to surrender after the invasion of the Philippines by the Japanese forces during World War II. Philippine Division (United States)
Philippine Division, or from 1946–1947 the 12th Infantry Division, was the core U.S. infantry division of the United States Army's Philippine Department during World War II. On 31 July 1941, the division consisted of 10,473 troops, mostly enlisted Filipinos, known as the Philippine Scouts who formed the 45th and 57th US Infantry Regiments. All of the division's enlisted men, with the exception of the 31st Infantry Regiment, and various military police and headquarters troops, were Philippine Scouts. Angels Of Bataan
The Angels of Bataan (also known as the "Angels of Bataan and Corregidor" and "The Battling Belles of Bataan") were the members of the United States Army Nurse Corps and the United States Navy Nurse Corps who were stationed in the Philippines at the outset of the Pacific War and served during the Battle of the Philippines (1941–1942). When Bataan and Corregidor fell, 11 navy nurses, 66 army nurses, and 1 nurse-anesthetist were captured and imprisoned in and around Manila.
