10th SPA
The 10th Supreme People's Assembly (Chosongul: 최고인민회의 제10기) of North Korea was in session from 1998 until 2003. It consisted of 687 deputies, and held six sessions. The Supreme People's Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), commonly known as North Korea. It consists of one deputy from each of the DPRK's 687 constituencies, elected to five-year terms. The constitution recognizes the Workers' Party as the leading party of the state. The Workers' Party, led by Kim Jong-un, governs the DPRK in a monopoly coalition with the Social Democratic Party and the Chondoist Chongu Party called the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland. Elections are held in five-year intervals, the most recent taking place in 2019. Supreme People's Assembly
The Supreme People's Assembly (SPA; ) is the unicameral legislature of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), commonly known as North Korea. It consists of one deputy from each of the DPRK's 687 constituencies, elected to five-year terms. The constitution identifies the SPA as the "highest organ of state power" and all state positions, including the President of the State Affairs and the Premier of the Cabinet, trace their authority to it. The Assembly typically does not legislate directly, but delegates that task to a smaller Standing Committee. The policies legislated by the SPA are carried out by government officials subject to oversight and correction by the Workers' Party of Korea. Ri Jong-ok
Ri Jong-ok (10 January 1916 – 23 September 1999) was a North Korean politician who served as the Premier of North Korea from 1977 to 1984. He was elected to the Presidium at the 6th WPK Congress in 1980. He was appointed as Vice President of North Korea by the Supreme People's Assembly in January 1984 and he left the office in October 1997. Ri died on 23 September 1999. On his funeral committee were Kim Yong-nam, Pak Song-chol, Hong Song-nam and others. He was the recipient of the Order of Kim Il-sung, Order of the National Flag (first class), Order of Freedom and Independence (first class) and other honors. Ri Il-hwan (, born 1960) is a North Korean politician, a member of the Politburo of the Workers' Party of Korea, Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK). He is currently the director of the Propaganda and Agitation Department (PAD) of the party. Early life Ri Il-hwan was born in 1960 in Pyongyang. He was educated at Kim Il-sung University and the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School. Career Ri was commander of a "Speed Campaign" for the League of Socialist Working Youth of Korea (later Kim Il-sung Socialist Youth League, KISYL) in 1992. Ri Chol-bong ( ko, 리철봉, died December 25, 2009) was a North Korean politician who served in various party and state posts, among them as Minister of Social Security. Biography He entered the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School after liberation of Korea. In 1950, when the Korean War broke out, he enlisted in the military and remained in the military afterwards, reaching the rank of major general in 1970. In November 1970, he was elected as a candidate member of the Central Committee at the 5th Party Congress. Since the 80s, he served as vice department director of the WPK Central Committee, minister of City Administration and director of the Political Bureau of the Ministry of Railways. Kang Yong Sop (, ; October 15, 1931 – January 21, 2012) was a North Korean politician, second son of deputy prime minister Kang Ryang-uk and Song Sok-jong. He served as chair of the Korean Christian Federation (KCF) and vice-president of the . He was also vice-president of the North Korean branch of the Pan-Korean Alliance for Reunification (PKAR), delegate to 12th Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) and member of the SPA Presidium, and director of the Pyongyang Theological Academy. Ryu Mi-yong
Ryu Mi-yong (14 February 1921 – 23 November 2016) was the chairwoman of the North Korean Chondoist Chongu Party. She was a standing committee member of the 10th Supreme People's Assembly. She was known as a South Korean defectors, defector from South Korea to the North. Biography Ryu was the only daughter born in Harbin to Korean independence movement, independence activist :ko:유동열, Ryu dong ryol.She married Choe Deok-sin in 1937 in China. She and her husband Choe Deok-sin defected to the North in 1986. In 2000, she led a delegation of defectors to the South on an officially sanctioned reunion with family they left behind. Ryu died of lung cancer in November 2016. Ryu's second son, :ko::최인국, Choe In-guk, reportedly defected to North Korea in July 2019.
