Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. To receive the content the listener must have a broadcast radio receiver (''radio''). CJCJ-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting from Woodstock, New Brunswick at 104.1 FM. The station is currently owned and operated by Bell Media. The station broadcasts a country format branded as ''Pure Country 104''. History CJCJ originally began broadcasting on 920 kHz in July 1959, and moved to FM in the early 2000s. Originally owned by Carleton-Victoria Broadcasting Limited, it was acquired in 1991 by Radio One Ltd. In 1999, Radio One was acquired by Telemedia, and in 2002, Telemedia was purchased by Standard Broadcasting. CJCJ was one of the stations that Standard in turn sold to Astral Media. In 1989, Carleton-Victoria Broadcasting Co. CIRA-FM is a French language Canadian radio station located in Montreal, Quebec. Its studios are located at 5000 d'Iberville street in the Plateau Mont-Royal district of Montreal. It broadcasts on 91.3 MHz with an effective radiated power of 36,200 watts ( class C1) using an omnidirectional antenna located atop Mount Royal. Radio Ville-Marie now stylized as Radio VM received CRTC approval in 1994 to operate a new religious French-language FM radio programming at Montreal. Owned by l'association Radio Clare, the station received CRTC approval in 1989. CICZ-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 104.1 FM in Midland, Ontario. The station, owned by Bell Media, airs an adult hits format branded as ''Bounce 104.1''. History Midland-Penetang Broadcasting Ltd. opened CKMP 1230 AM on July 1, 1959 with studios at 196 Dominion Avenue in Downtown Midland. The "MP" in the call letters was for the towns of Midland and Penetanguishene. CKMP was home to many well-known announcers, including Jim Van Horne, Brian Henderson, Dan McLean and Ken Rowland. The studios moved in 1990 to a new facility on Cranston Crescent off Highway 12 in Midland, in a facility that also housed Telemedia's community newspapers.
