19th Annual Gardel Awards
The 19th Annual Premios Gardel ceremony were held on June 6, 2017. The TN network broadcast the show live from the Gran Rex Theatre in Buenos Aires. The ceremony recognizes the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, which runs from January 1, 2016 to January 31, 2016. Lalo Mir and Maju Lozano hosted the ceremony. The "pre-telecast" ceremony was held on the same day at the Opera Allianz Theatre prior to the main event and was hosted by Gabriela Radice. The nominations were announced on May 9, 2017 at the Néstor Kirchner Cultural Centre. Abel Pintos acquired the most nominations with five, while Carajo, Eruca Sativa and Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas followed with three nominations each. Pintos was the biggest winner of the night with three trophies, including Best Male Pop Album the Golden Gardel Award for Album of the Year for '' 11'', and Song of the Year for "Cómo Te Extraño". Teatro Gran Rex
The Teatro Gran Rex is an Art Deco style theatre in Buenos Aires, Argentina which opened on July 8, 1937, as the largest cinema in Argentina. Located near the centre of the city at 857 Corrientes Avenue, it was designed by the architect Alberto Prebisch, who was also in charge of the construction of the Obelisk, one of the main icons of the city. The design of the interior was influenced by that of Radio City Music Hall in New York City and construction of the theatre was completed in just seven months in association with the engineer Adolfo Moret. The opening caused a sensation and the Argentine intellectual Victoria Ocampo praised the theatre as an outstanding example of modern architecture from the pages of her influential literary journal, '' Sur''. Marcela Morelo
Marcela Morelo (born Marcela Morello on 13 December 1969) is an Argentine singer-songwriter. She has released eight critically acclaimed studio albums, which all earned either Gold or Platinum record. Morelo also won five Gardel Awards, the most prestigious musical award in Argentina. Life Morelo has said that she began to study music at age 7 and learned how to sing and accompany herself on the guitar at age 9. Her grandfather played the bandoneon and performed in a tango orchestra. Before dedicating herself to music, Morelo worked as sales clerk in a clothing store and a supermarket cashier. Alejandro Lerner
Alejandro Federico Lerner (born June 8, 1957) is an Argentine musician and singer-songwriter. He has written and sung countless songs including several hits, and his fame and recognition spread all over South America. Through his career, Lerner played in different bands, formed his own group, and worked with international artists such as Luis Miguel, Paul Anka, and Celine Dion. Lerner was born in Buenos Aires to a family of Ashkenazi Jewish origin. In 1974, he was discovered by Raúl Porchetto, who invited him to join a short-term project called Reino de Munt. Raúl Lavié (born August 22, 1937) nickname ''El Negro'', is an Argentine entertainer prominent in the Tango genre. Life and work Raúl Alberto Peralta was born in Álvarez, located in the Rosario Department of the Santa Fe Province, Argentina in 1937.
