1999–2000 Burnley F.C. Season
The 1999–2000 season was Burnley's 5th season in the third tier of English football. They were managed by Stan Ternent in his second full season since he replaced Chris Waddle at the beginning 1998–99 campaign. Burnley won promotion at Scunthorpe United on the final day of the season, reaching 2nd place for the first time that season and pipping Gillingham who had looked certainties for automatic promotion down the final stretch. Selling their 2,500 ticket allocation at Glanford Park, there were also 7,000 Clarets watching from the Longside Stand at Turf Moor as the game was beamed back onto a big screen in the centre of the pitch. Burnley F
Burnley () is a town and the administrative centre of the wider Borough of Burnley in Lancashire, England, with a 2001 population of 73,021. It is north of Manchester and east of Preston, at the confluence of the River Calder and River Brun. The town is located near the countryside to the south and east, with the towns of Padiham and Brierfield to the west and north respectively. It has a reputation as a regional centre of excellence for the manufacturing and aerospace industries. The town began to develop in the early medieval period as a number of farming hamlets surrounded by manor houses and royal forests, and has held a market for more than 700 years. Steve Davis (footballer Born 1968)
Stephen Mark Davis (born 30 October 1968 ) is an English former footballer who played as a defender. He had three spells with Burnley, and has subsequently coached for them. He was the first team coach for EFL Championship side Bolton Wanderers but was sacked along with Owen Coyle on 9 October. Playing career Davis was born in Hexham, but started his career as a trainee with Southampton in August 1986, turning professional in July 1987. He was a virtual ever-present in the reserve team in both the 1987–88 and 1988–89 seasons, making 35 appearances each time. Despite this, he failed to break through into the first team. In November 1989 he went on loan to Burnley (who already had a player called Steve Davis) and returned to The Dell in February 1990. Ian Paul Smith
Ian Paul Smith (born 22 January 1976 in Easington, County Durham), known as Paul Smith, is an English footballer who played in the Football League for Burnley, Oldham Athletic, Hartlepool United and Sheffield Wednesday. Career Smith turned professional in July 1992 with Burnley. He was subject of multimillion-pound bids from Arsenal, West Ham United, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Everton and was widely considered to have the best left foot outside the Premier League. Thomas Cowan (born 28 August 1969) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a defender. During his career he played for Clyde, Rangers, Sheffield United, Stoke City, Huddersfield Town, Burnley, Cambridge United, Peterborough United, York City, Dundee, Carlisle United, Barrow, Workington, Hucknall Town, Stalybridge Celtic, Hyde United and Retford United. Graham Branch
Graham Branch (born 12 February 1972) is a former professional footballer. Playing career Branch was born in Liverpool, England. A childhood Liverpool fan, he started his footballing career across the River Mersey with Heswall and then Tranmere Rovers. Having made 109 appearances for them, with loan deals at Bury and Wigan Athletic along the way, he was released on a free transfer to Stockport County for the beginning of the 1998–99 season, and quickly arrived at Burnley in January 1999, signed by the colourful manager Stan Ternent, following a falling-out with then Stockport manager, Gary Megson. Craig Mawson (born 16 May 1979 in Keighley, West Yorkshire) is an English former professional footballer who works as a goalkeeping coach for Manchester United. Ronnie Jepson
Ronald Francis Jepson (born 12 May 1963) is an English former football player and manager who is now Neil Warnock's assistant manager at club Huddersfield Town. A striker, he scored 86 goals in 354 league games in an eleven-year professional career. He moved from Nantwich Town to Port Vale in 1989, turning professional at the age of 25. Loaned out to Peterborough United in 1990, he was sold on to Preston North End for £80,000 in February 1991. He transferred to Exeter City a year later, before he moved on to Huddersfield Town in December 1993 for £70,000. Lenny Johnrose
Leonard Johnrose (29 November 1969 – 15 August 2022) was an English professional footballer who played for clubs including Burnley, Bury and Swansea City. He was a defensive midfielder. Career Johnrose began his career at Blackburn Rovers as a young trainee, and also spent time on loan at Preston North End. During these spells he impressed to a level where he was signed for £50,000 by Hartlepool United. He went on to make over fifty appearances for the club, scoring eleven goals in the process. At the end of his contract, he was signed by Bury manager Stan Ternent who wanted to add some toughness to his central midfield. Johnrose was a central character in Bury's rapid rise to the First Division. Andy Cooke
Andrew Roy Cooke (born 20 January 1974) is an English former footballer, who played as a striker for Newtown, Burnley, Stoke City, Busan I'Cons (South Korea), Bradford City, Darlington and Shrewsbury Town.
