WTA Tier III Tournaments
The WTA Tier III tournaments were Women's Tennis Association tennis third-level tournaments held from 1990 until the end of the 2008 season. The line-up of events varied over the years due to tournaments being promoted, demoted or cancelled. From 2009, most Tier III and Tier IV tournaments from previous seasons became WTA International Tournaments owing to a category change. The main reason for the changes was to ease the pressure on players in terms of the number of tournaments that they were required to play. Marta Marrero
Marta Marrero (born 16 January 1983), a Spanish former professional tennis player, is a professional padel player. In tennis, she reached the quarterfinals of the French Open, won two WTA doubles titles, and also a total of 14 ITF singles and doubles titles. Her highest singles rank on the WTA Tour was world No. 47, which she reached in 2004. Her highest doubles ranking was No. 47, set in July 2005. Since 2015 she is a professional padel player where she has attained a world No. 1 ranking as of 2019. Career Marrero turned professional in 1998. At the 2000 French Open, she reached the quarterfinals as a qualifier. In the second round, Marrero defeated Dominique Van Roost, who defeated number two seed Lindsay Davenport in the first round. Marlene Weingärtner
Marlene Weingärtner (born 30 January 1980) is a retired tennis player from Germany. She is a former top 40 player in both singles and doubles. The most remarkable moment of her career was her first-round match at the 2003 Australian Open when she defeated there the defending champion Jennifer Capriati. Capriati led the encounter 6–2, 4–1, but Weingärtner fought back and won by a 2–6, 7–6, 6–4 scoreline. She eventually reached the third round. Her best Grand Slam showings were two fourth-round appearances, the first in Melbourne 2002, the latter at the 2004 French Open. In 2004, she also reached her only WTA Tour final in Bali which she lost in straight sets to Svetlana Kuznetsova. Playing for Germany in the Fed Cup, she has a win–loss record of 2–3. María Fernanda Landa
María Fernanda Landa (born 29 July 1975) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. Biography Landa competed on the WTA Tour from 1995 and made all of her main-draw appearances in the doubles format, in which she reached 108 in the world. As a singles player she won six ITF Women's Circuit, ITF titles, with a best ranking of 183. She qualified for the main draw of the women's doubles at the 1996 US Open (tennis), 1996 US Open with Marlene Weingärtner and with the same partner was runner-up at the 1999 WTA Madrid Open. At the 1999 Wimbledon Championships, Landa and Weingärtner received direct entry and were beaten in the first round by eventual champions Lindsay Davenport and Corina Morariu. Dragana Zarić-Martinov(Serbian Cyrillic: Драгана Зарић-Мартинов, born 1 August 1977) is a Serbian former professional tennis player. Her career-high rankings are No. 157 in singles, achieved in spring of 2001, and No. 82 in doubles, reached in summer of 2002. She won four titles in singles and 24 in doubles in ITF tournaments. Silvija Talaja (born 14 January 1978) is a Croatian former professional tennis player. Talaja won two singles titles and one doubles title on the WTA Tour, as well as one singles title on the ITF Circuit. On 29 May 2000, she reached her best singles ranking of world No. 18. Raluca Sandu (born 3 February 1980) is a Romanian retired tennis player and professional padel player. On 18 January 1999, she reached her highest WTA singles ranking of 68 whilst her best doubles ranking was 228 on 13 September 1999. Emmanuelle Gagliardi (born 9 July 1976) is a retired Swiss tennis player. She was coached by Marco Tarelli and her preferred surface was hardcourt. Gagliardi never won a WTA Tour singles title, but reached the semifinals of the 2002 Indian Wells Masters, losing to eventual champion Daniela Hantuchová, in three sets. Nicole Pratt
Nicole Pratt (born 5 March 1973) is a retired tennis player from Australia. Pratt was born in Mackay, Queensland. She is the middle sibling of five children of cane farmers and was taught to play by her father, George, who was a top junior player. She attended school in Calen and received a tennis scholarship to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. She turned professional at 18. She became Australia's No. 1 ranked female player in January 2001. She won her first WTA Title at the Hyderabad Open and reached the third round of the Australian Open in 2004.
