The 1999 Supercupa României was the 4th edition of Romania's season opener cup competition. The match was played in Bucharest at Stadionul Naţional on 7 October 1999, and was contested between Divizia A title holders, Rapid and Cupa României champions, Steaua. Rapid won the trophy. Supercupa României
The Supercupa României ( en, Romanian Supercup) is a Romanian football championship contested by the winners of the Liga I and the Cupa României. It is usually played at the Arena Națională in Bucharest. The competition started off in 1994, with the first edition being won by Steaua București. In 2010, for the first time in its history, the Supercup was held even though CFR Cluj had been victorious in both the league and the cup in the previous season. At that time, they faced Unirea Urziceni, the Liga I runners-up. The most successful performer so far has been FCSB with 6 wins, followed by Rapid București and CFR Cluj with 4 wins each up until 2021. Sponsorship On 22 July 2005, FRF and Samsung Electronics signed a one-year sponsorship deal. The name of the competition was changed to ''Supercupa României Samsung'' for the 2005 and 2006 editions. George Ogăraru
George Ogăraru (born 3 February 1980 in Bucharest) is a retired Romanian footballer and current manager who holds a UEFA Pro Licence. His position on the pitch was right defender. Club career Ogăraru is one of the players that were promoted by Steaua București's youth club. He started his professional football career playing for Steaua at 18 years old. He debuted in Divizia A on 28 November 1998 in a victory against Olimpia Satu Mare with 3–0. In his first and second seasons at Steaua he was a substitute player and played only 7 games but did not score any goals. In the 2000–2001 season he was signed by CSM Reșița in Liga II, where he played in 25 games and scored once. He came back in the next season 2001–2002 in Liga 1 not playing for Steaua or Reșița but for Oțelul Galați. There he played 20 games and scored a goal. Mircea Lucescu
Mircea Lucescu (; born 29 July 1945) is a Romanian professional football manager and former player, who is currently head coach of Ukrainian Premier League club Dynamo Kyiv. He is one of the most decorated managers of all time. Lucescu is also one of the most successful players of the Romanian league championship, having won all of his seven titles with Dinamo București. Apart from the latter club, he had spells at Știința București and Corvinul Hunedoara, and made 70 appearances for the Romania national team, which he captained in the 1970 FIFA World Cup.
