1999 Nova Supersports Cup
The 1999 Nova Supersports Cup was an association football friendly tournament competition hosted by Greek premium sports network Nova Sports in 1999, held in Athens. The tournament occurred from 31 July to 1 August 1999 with the participation of English Premier League club Leicester City, Hertha Berlin from the Bundesliga, Iraklis from the Alpha Ethniki and AEK Athens from the Alpha Ethniki, which eventually won the tournament. Nikos Goumas Stadium
Nikos Goumas Stadium ( el, Στάδιο Νίκος Γκούμας) was a multi-purpose stadium in Nea Filadelfeia, a northwestern suburb of Athens, Greece. It was used mostly for football matches and was the home stadium of AEK Athens F.C. It is now replaced by Agia Sophia Stadium built at the same site. Name The stadium was named "AEK Stadium" ( el, Γήπεδο ΑΕΚ) but was also known as "Nea Filadelfeia Stadium" ( el, Στάδιο Νέας Φιλαδέλφειας). In 1991 it was officially named "Nikos Goumas Stadium" after former club president Nikos Goumas, who contributed to its building and later upgrading. Andreas Neuendorf
Andreas "Zecke" Neuendorf (born 9 February 1975) is a German former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Neuendorf has played for Bayer Leverkusen and Hertha BSC. He left Berlin after the 2006–07 season, having played with the club for six years. After three years with FC Ingolstadt 04, he returned to Hertha in 2010. Nickname Neuendorf is nicknamed "Zecke" (German for tick), a name that was given to him by Leverkusen team-mate Ulf Kirsten after Neuendorf fell ill from a tick bite. René Tretschok
René Tretschok (born 23 December 1968) is a German former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. As a player of Borussia Dortmund he was part of their Champions League victory in 1997. He scored an important goal in the semi final of their victorious campaign against Manchester United, giving Dortmund a crucial 1–0 lead going into the second leg. He was then rewarded with a place on the bench in the final, however he remained unused for the entire match. Nenad Bjeković Jr. (born 17 February 1974) is a Serbian retired footballer who played mainly as a striker. Club career After starting his career with Partizan, Bjeković made a move to French giants Marseille in 1995, but failed to make an impression and he left the club after only one season. Over the next two seasons, Bjeković had short spells with Nantes and Châteauroux, before returning to Partizan in the 1998–99 season. In the summer of 1999, Bjeković moved to Greece by joining his former head coach and compatriot Ljubiša Tumbaković at AEK Athens, but he stayed in the Greek capital only one season. Matthew Stephen Elliott (born 1 November 1968) is a former professional footballer, most notably as a defender for Leicester City. Born in England, he was never selected to play for them on an international level; he instead played for the Scotland national team, for whom he was eligible due to his Scottish grandmother. Steven Walsh (born 3 November 1964) is an English former professional footballer who played as a centre-back, but at times was used as a striker. Christos Maladenis
Christos Maladenis ( Greek: Χρήστος Μαλαδένης; born 23 May 1974) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He is the current scouter of AEK Athens Academy. Career Maladenis began his career in Skoda Xanthi, attracting the interest of Panathinaikos and AEK Athens. In the summer of 1995, he signed for AEK. Toni Savevski
Toni Savevski ( mk, Тони Савевски; born 14 June 1963) is a Macedonian football player who played as a midfielder. Savevski is widely regarded as one of the best foreign players to have played in the Greek football league. After retiring from as a footballer in 2001 he became manager and managed several clubs in Cyprus, most notably Omonia. Club career Savevski was born in Bitola, SR Macedonia. Kjetil Rekdal
Kjetil André Rekdal (born 6 November 1968) is a Norwegian football manager and a former player. He is the manager of Eliteserien club Rosenborg.
