1999 New York Jets
The 1999 New York Jets season was the 40th season for the team, the 30th in the National Football League (NFL) and the third year and final year under Bill Parcells and was also the last season that the Jets were under the ownership of the Hess family. Owner Leon Hess died before the season began and, per his directive, the team was to be sold after his death. The process for vetting potential buyers proceeded during the entire season and shortly after it concluded, the winning buyer was revealed as Johnson & Johnson heir Woody Johnson. The Jets failed to improve upon their 12–4 record from 1998, when the Jets won the AFC East and ended the season with a loss in the AFC Championship Game and missed the playoffs for the first time since 1997. Wayne Chrebet (born August 14, 1973) is a former American football wide receiver who played 11 seasons for the New York Jets of the National Football League from 1995 to 2005. High school and college career Chrebet grew up in Garfield, New Jersey in heavily suburban Bergen County. He played high school football at Garfield High School. Jerald Monye Sowell (born January 21, 1974) is a former American football fullback. He played ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played college football at Tulane. Playing career He holds the record for the longest play in Tulane football history, breaking off a 98-yard run against the defending national champions Alabama in 1993. Bernard Parmalee (born September 16, 1967) is an American football coach who is the running backs coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the special teams coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons in 2020 and also served as an assistant coach for Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins. Curtis James Martin Jr. (born May 1, 1973) is a former American football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 12 seasons, primarily with the New York Jets.
