1999 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming And Diving Championships
The 1999 NCAA Women's Division I Swimming and Diving Championships were contested at the 18th annual NCAA-sanctioned swim meet to determine the team and individual national champions of Division I women's collegiate swimming and diving in the United States. This year's events were hosted at Gabrielsen Natatorium at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. Hosts Georgia topped the team standings for the first time, finishing 63.5 points ahead of defending champion Stanford, and claimed the Bulldogs' first women's team title. The SMU Mustangs are the athletic teams that represent Southern Methodist University in University Park, Texas, United States. The Mustangs were founded in 1911 and joined the Southwest Conference, competing against Baylor, Rice, Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Oklahoma A&M (which later became Oklahoma State). The Virginia Cavaliers Swimming and Diving teams represent the University of Virginia in all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Swimming and Diving Events. In 2021, the women's side won the NCAA Championship, a first for any Atlantic Coast Conference team, and finished in the national top 10 for a third consecutive season. The men's side also finished in the national top 10 for the second consecutive season. In 2022, the women won their second consecutive NCAA Championship. The Florida Gators swimming and diving program represents the University of Florida in the aquatics sports of swimming and diving. The program includes separate men's and women's teams, both of which compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
