Jackie Sherrill
Jackie Wayne Sherrill (born November 28, 1943) is a former American football player and coach. He was the head football coach at Washington State University (1976), the University of Pittsburgh (1977–1981), Texas A&M University (1982–1988), and Mississippi State University (1991–2003), compiling a career college football record of 180–120–4. Sherrill is a studio analyst for Fox Sports Net's college football coverage. Playing career Sherrill played football at the University of Alabama under Bear Bryant from 1962 to 1965, helping the Crimson Tide win two national championships. Coaching career Washington State Sherrill was the head coach at Washington State for one year, in 1976. During his one season, the Cougars had a win–loss record of 3-8. Tuscaloosa ( ) is a city in and the seat of Tuscaloosa County in west-central Alabama, United States, on the Black Warrior River where the Gulf Coastal and Piedmont plains meet. Bryant–Denny Stadium is an outdoor stadium in the southeastern United States, on the campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. It is the home field of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Opened in 1929, it was originally named Denny Stadium in honor of George H. Denny, the school's president from 1912 to 1932. In 1975, the state legislature added longtime head coach and alumnus Paul "Bear" Bryant to the stadium's name. The Alabama–Mississippi State football rivalry, also known as the 90 Mile Drive or the Battle for Highway 82, is an American college football rivalry between the Alabama Crimson Tide football team of the University of Alabama and Mississippi State Bulldogs football team of Mississippi State University. Both universities are founding members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), and are currently members of the SEC's Western Division. 1999 Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team
The 1999 Alabama Crimson Tide football team represented the University of Alabama in the 1999 college football season. The team was led by head coach Mike DuBose, who was in his third season with the program. The Crimson Tide, also known informally as the Tide, played their home games at Bryant–Denny Stadium, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Legion Field, in Birmingham, Alabama. The team entered the season trying to build upon a 7–5 record from their 1998 season. The 1999 team had tremendous success. After a stunning last second loss to Louisiana Tech early in the year, they eventually finished with a 9–2 regular season record (7–1 in the SEC). The 1999 Kentucky Wildcats football team represented the University of Kentucky during the 1999 NCAA Division I-A football season. They participated as members of the Southeastern Conference in the Eastern Division. They played their home games at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington, Kentucky. The team was coached by Hal Mumme. The LSU–Mississippi State football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the LSU Tigers and Mississippi State Bulldogs. Both universities are founding members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), and are currently members of the SEC West with a total of 113 meetings. 1999 LSU Tigers Football Team
The 1999 LSU Tigers football team represented Louisiana State University in the 1999 NCAA Division I-A football season. Coached by Gerry DiNardo in his last year at LSU, the Tigers played their home games at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. LSU fired DiNardo before the final game of the season against conference opponent Arkansas after eight consecutive losses and named Assistant Coach Hal Hunter as interim head coach for the final game. DiNardo was given the opportunity to coach the game vs. Arkansas, but refused (in contrast to his predecessor at LSU, Curley Hallman, who coached the Tigers in their final two games of 1994 after being fired five years to the day prior to DiNardo's dismissal).
