The 1999 IBF World Championships (World Badminton Championships) were held in Copenhagen, Denmark, between 10 May and 23 May 1999. Host city selection Copenhagen, Denmark, was chosen over Gothenburg, Sweden, as the host for 1999 IBF World Championships. Zhang Jun (badminton)
Zhang Jun (; born November 26, 1977 in Suzhou, Jiangsu) is a former male badminton player from the People's Republic of China. He is now a coach with the Chinese national team following his retirement from international play. Career As a doubles specialist, the solidly built Zhang Jun won several international men's doubles titles with compatriot Zhang Wei including the Swiss (1998), China (2001), and Thailand (2005) Opens. However, the majority of his titles, and the most prestigious ones, came in mixed doubles with the formidable Gao Ling. These included consecutive gold medals at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games, earned by surviving a number of tight matches, particularly in 2000 when they were on the verge of elimination in the semifinals. Zhang Wei (badminton, Born 1977)
Zhang Wei (, born 2 December 1977) is a former Chinese badminton player. Zhang was selected to join the national team in 1997. He played in the men's doubles event partnered with Zhang Jun. He participated in four consecutive Sudirman Cup, winning 3 gold medals in 1999, 2001, 2005, and a silver medal in 2003. He and Zhang Jun was qualified to compete at the 2000 Summer Olympics, but because of the injury on his left abdominal muscles while doing the exercises, he missed the event. He retired from the national team in 2005, and started to playing in Denmark. Lee Dong-soo ( ; born 7 June 1974) is a former badminton player from South Korea who affiliate with the Samsung Electro-Mechanics. Competition Lee competed for Korea in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's doubles with partner Yoo Yong-sung. They defeated José Antonio Crespo and Sergio Llopis of Spain in the first round and Luluk Hadiyanto and Alvent Yulianto of Indonesia in the second. In the quarterfinals, Lee and Yoo beat Choong Tan Fook and Lee Wan Wah of Malaysia 11-15, 15-11, 15-9. Kim Dong-moon
Kim Dong-moon (Hangul: 김동문, Hanja: 金東文; born 22 September 1975) is a retired South Korean badminton player who won major titles between the mid-1990s and the mid-2000s (decade), and widely regarded as one of finest men's doubles and mixed doubles players in badminton history. Kim captured the world attention when he unexpectedly winning the gold medal in the mixed doubles event with Gil Young-ah at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. On his path to greatness, he won gold medals both in men's and mixed doubles at the 1999 World Championships. Kim and Ra Kyung-min, partnered up to become one of the strongest mixed doubles pairings of that time. They did not drop a single match from April to November in 2003. Ha Tae-kwon
Ha Tae-kwon (; born 30 April 1975) is a badminton player from South Korea. Born in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, Ha started his career in badminton with the recommendation of Kim Dong-moon in elementary school. He made his international debut in 1992, and won his first Grand Prix title at the 1995 Canada Open. Ha three times competed in Olympic Games in 1996, 2000 and 2004, won a bronze medal in 2000 and a gold medal in 2004. Gong Ruina (; born in 23 January 1981) is a badminton player from the People's Republic of China. Career Gong Ruina was one of the world's leading women's singles players, former World No. 1 in the first few years of the 21st century. She won a number of top tier international titles including the 2001 IBF World Championships in Seville, Spain and the venerable All-England Championships (2004).
