The 1999 Brasil Open was a women's tennis tournament played on Clay court, outdoor clay courts in São Paulo, Brazil. It was part of WTA Tier IV Events, Tier IV of the 1999 WTA Tour. WTA Tier IV Tournaments
The WTA Tier IV tournaments were Women's Tennis Association fourth-level tournaments held from 1990 until the end of the 2008 season. The line-up of events varied over the years, with tournaments being promoted, demoted or cancelled. Larissa Schaerer (born 15 April 1975) is a former professional tennis player from Paraguay. Biography A right-handed player, Schaerer was born in Asuncion and began playing tennis aged eight. She was a member of the Paraguayan team that finished runner-up to Germany at the 1991 World Youth Cup, during which she was unbeaten in singles play.
