1999 Atlanta Falcons Season
The 1999 season was the Atlanta Falcons' 34th in the National Football League (NFL). They finished with a 5–11 record, some way short of the 14–2 record they managed in the previous season, and failed to reach the playoffs, which meant they would not be the first team to play in the Super Bowl at their own stadium. The Falcons and their Super Bowl XXXIII opponents, the Denver Broncos, managed an aggregate 11–21 record between them; it was the worst combined record by two teams the year after they reached the Super Bowl until the Oakland Raiders and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2003. The season saw star running back Jamal Anderson hurt his knee in Week 2 and be subsequently placed on injured reserve, ending his season and any hope of the Falcons matching their 1998 form. NFC West
The National Football Conference - Western Division or NFC West is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). It currently has four members: the Arizona Cardinals, the Los Angeles Rams, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Seattle Seahawks. The division was formed in 1967 as the National Football League Coastal Division, keeping with the theme of having all of the league's divisions starting with the letter "C." The division was so named because its teams were fairly close to the coasts of the United States, although they were on opposite coasts, making for long travel between division rivals. Greg Bishop
Gregory Lawrence Bishop (born May 2, 1971) is a retired American college and professional player who was an offensive tackle in the NFL. He was drafted in the 4th round (93rd pick overall) of the 1993 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants and the Atlanta Falcons. William White (American Football)
William Eugene White (February 19, 1966 – July 28, 2022) was an American professional football player who was a safety for eleven seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, and Atlanta Falcons from 1988 to 1998. Early life White was born in Lima, Ohio, on February 19, 1966. He attended Lima Senior High School in his hometown, playing on its football and basketball teams before graduating in 1984. He then studied at Ohio State University, where he played as defensive back for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Esera Tavai Tuaolo (born July 11, 1968), nicknamed "Mr. Aloha", is a former American professional football player. He was a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for 9 years. Football career He played college football at Oregon State University and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He won the Morris Trophy in 1989, which is given to the best defensive lineman in the Pac-10. He was named Pac-10 Conference First-team twice and as a senior he was a finalist for the Lombardi Award and Outland Trophy. Benjamin Jermaine Talley (born July 14, 1972) is a former American football linebacker who played two seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons. He was drafted by the Giants in the fourth round of the 1995 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Tennessee and attended Griffin High School in Griffin, Georgia. The 1999 Carolina Panthers season was the franchise's 5th season in the National Football League and the 1st and under head coach George Seifert who replaced Dom Capers as head coach. They improved upon their 4–12 record in 1998, and the Panthers went 8–8, their first .500 record in franchise history, but failed to make the playoffs for the fourth time in franchise history. Steven Leroy DeBerg (born January 19, 1954) is an American retired professional football player who was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) for 17 years. Early life DeBerg is an alumnus of Savanna High School in Anaheim, California. He was the starting quarterback, and excelled in the pole vault. He was the starting quarterback at Fullerton College during the 1972 and 1973 seasons. As a sophomore in 1973, DeBerg led his team to a South Coast Conference title with a 5–0 record. In the postseason, Fullerton defeated San Diego City College 24–0 but lost 29–20 to Los Angeles City College in the state semifinals.
