The 1999 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship was the first staging of the AVC Club Championships. The tournament was held in Hefei, China. Sichuan Fulan of China won the tournament in round robin format. Sichuan Fulan
Sichuan (; zh, c=, labels=no, ; zh, p=Sìchuān; alternatively romanized as Szechuan or Szechwan; formerly also referred to as "West China" or "Western China" by Protestant missions) is a province in Southwest China occupying most of the Sichuan Basin and the easternmost part of the Tibetan Plateau between the Jinsha River on the west, the Daba Mountains in the north and the Yungui Plateau to the south. Al Rayyan Volleyball Team
Al Rayyan Volleyball ( ar, الريان للكرة الطائرة) is a professional Volleyball team based in Al-Rayyan, Qatar. It competes in the Qatari Volleyball League. They participated in the 2012 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship held in Qatar after winning the Heir Apparent Cup. The club hired four top athletes to strengthen the team before the 2012 Club World Championships. These include Rodrigão from Brazil, the Bulgarian brothers Georgi and Valentin Bratoev, and the American David Lee, a Gold medalist in Beijing 2008. They did not advance past the group stage. The best achievement for the Al Rayyan volleyball team was in 2014 when they came in the second place in the World Club championship. The squad included Michael Sánchez, Raphael Vieira de Oliveira, Matey Kaziyski and Robertlandy Simón as foreign players in the team. Suk Jin-wook
Suk Jin-wook (Hangul: 석진욱; born December 5, 1976) is a retired volleyball player from South Korea, who played as an outside hitter for the South Korean men's national team. He was named ''Best Receiver'' at the 2008 Olympic Qualification Tournament, where South Korea ended up in third place and missed qualification for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, PR China. Although he was technically an outside hitter, Suk showed exceptional defensive skills in playing with a libero player in the back row - as an outside hitter he was often named ''Best Receiver'' in domestic and international competitions. Suk is currently the assistant coach with the Ansan OK Savings Bank in V-League. Zhang Xiang (; born December 1963 in Nanjing) is a Chinese-American academic administrator, material scientist, optical engineer and physicist. He is the current Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), where he also serves as professor. He was the inaugural Ernest S.
