1999 All-Big 12 Conference Football Team
The 1999 All-Big 12 Conference football team consists of American football players chosen as All-Big 12 Conference players for the 1999 NCAA Division I-A football season. The conference recognizes two official All-Big 12 selectors: (1) the Big 12 conference coaches selected separate offensive and defensive units and named first- and second-team players (the "Coaches" team); and (2) a panel of sports writers and broadcasters covering the Big 12 also selected offensive and defensive units and named first- and second-team players (the "Media" team). Casey Hampton
Casey Hampton Jr. (born September 3, 1977) is a former American football nose tackle who played twelve seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Texas, and received All-American recognition. The Pittsburgh Steelers picked him in the first round of the 2001 NFL Draft. Hampton was selected for the Pro Bowl five times. Early years Hampton was born in Galveston, Texas. He attended Ball High School in Galveston, Texas, and was a letterman in football and track. He was twice named as the District Defensive Player of the Year, and as a senior, he was a Texas Class 5A All-State first-team selection. Bobby Newcombe
Robert Wundu Sowa Newcombe (born August 8, 1979) is a former American football quarterback that started for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Collegiate career As a sophomore in 1998, Bobby Newcombe started at quarterback and led his team to a 9-4 record and a No. 19 ranking nationally in spite of suffering from a knee injury in the first game that would plague him all season long. During the season, Newcombe led Nebraska in passing yards with 712 and had 228 rushing yards while completing 50-of-79 passes and throwing just one interception. The 6-0, 195-pound native of Albuquerque, New Mexico also recorded eight rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown, while his longest run from the line of scrimmage was 20 yards. David Allen (born February 9, 1978) is a gridiron football running back who played with the Jacksonville Jaguars and St. Louis Rams of the National Football League (NFL) for three seasons. He played college football for Kansas State University, and earned All-American honors. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jaguars, and spent one season with the Rams. Shane Lechler
Edward Shane Lechler (; born August 7, 1976) is an American former professional football player who played as punter for 18 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Texas A&M University and was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. Regarded as one of the greatest punters in NFL history, Lechler was named an All-Pro nine times during his career, and made seven Pro Bowls. He led the league in punting average five times and is the NFL's all-time leader in career punting average. Jarrod Alexander Cooper (born March 31, 1978) is a former American football safety with the Oakland Raiders and Carolina Panthers.
