1998–99 Danish Superliga
The 1998–99 Danish Superliga season was the 9th season of the Danish Superliga league championship, governed by the Danish Football Association. It took place from the first match on July 26, 1998, to final match on June 16, 1999. The Danish champions and runners-up qualified for their respective UEFA Champions League qualification stages, while the third placed team qualified for the qualification round of the 1999–2000 UEFA Cup. The fourth and fifth placed teams qualified for the UEFA Intertoto Cup 1999, while the two lowest placed teams of the tournament were directly relegated to the Danish 1st Division. Likewise, the Danish 1st Division champions and runners-up were promoted to the Superliga. Danish Superliga
The Danish Superliga ( da, Superligaen, ) is the current Danish football championship tournament, and administered by the Danish Football Association. It is the highest football league in Denmark and is currently contested by 12 teams each year, with two teams relegated. History Founded in 1991, the Danish Superliga replaced the Danish 1st Division as the highest league of football in Denmark. From the start in 1991, 10 teams were participating. The opening Superliga season was played during the spring of 1991, with the ten teams playing each other twice for the championship title. From the summer of 1991, the tournament structure would stretch over two calendar years. The 10 teams would play each other twice in the first half of the tournament. In the following spring, the bottom two teams would be cut off, the points of the teams would be cut in half, and the remaining eight teams would once more play each other twice, for a total of 32 games in a season. Viborg FF
Viborg Fodsports Forening ("Viborg Footsport Association"), or Viborg F.F. and VFF for short, is a Danish professional football club based in Viborg. The club was founded in 1896 and waited more than a century before winning its only national trophy, the 2000 Danish Cup. History Viborg FF was founded in 1896, with several other sports apart from football - among other things were gymnastics, cricket, field hockey, boxing, athletics, skiing, weight-lifting, and wrestling. The first big sporting highlight of the club came in 1924, when Viborg FF won the championship in ''Mesterrækken'' (The Champion Division), which was the best regional division in Jutland. Søren Hermansen
Søren Hermansen (born 7 September 1970) is a Danish professional football coach and former player who played as a forward. He is manager of the Denmark national under-16 team. Playing career During his active career, he started as a youth player for hometown clubs Skovbakken and AGF before helping Aarhus Fremad reach promotion to the Danish Superliga. In 1998, he signed with Lyngby Boldklub before moving to Mechelen in Belgium. After three tumultuous seasons there where he was demoted to the reserves and did not receive months worth of pay, he ended his career in Iceland with Þróttur where he played for two years. He scored 75 goals in all Danish divisions during his tenures for Fremad and Lyngby. Ebbe Sand
Ebbe Sand (; born 19 July 1972) is a former professional footballer from Denmark who played as a forward for Brøndby IF in Denmark and FC Schalke 04 in Germany. He was the Bundesliga top scorer in 2001, and won the DFB-Pokal in 2001 and 2002 with Schalke. On the international stage, he represented the Denmark national team at the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cup, as well as the 2000 and 2004 European Championships. At the 1998 World Cup, he scored the fastest-ever World Cup goal by a substitute – 16 seconds after entering the match. In all, he was selected 66 times for the Danish national team and scored 22 goals, from his debut in 1998 until he decided to focus on playing for Schalke in 2004. When his contract with Schalke ran out in summer 2006, he moved back to Denmark to become head talent scout at Silkeborg IF. Chris Hermansen
Chris Hermansen (born 23 January 1975) is a retired football player, who most notably won the 1999 Danish Cup with Akademisk Boldklub (AB). He played as a forward and scored 73 goals in 174 games in the Danish Superliga from 1996 to 2004. Hermansen played five games for Danish youth selections, including three games for the Denmark national under-21 football team. During his club career, Hermansen played for Esbjerg fB, 1. FC Köln, Ikast FS, Herfølge BK, AB, Vejle BK and Kolding FC. After retiring as a player, Hermansen took up coaching, and became the coach in the football club Løsning IF. Lyngby BK
Lyngby Boldklub () is a Danish professional football club founded in 1921. It is based at Lyngby Stadion in Kongens Lyngby, Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, a northern suburb of Copenhagen.
