1998 NCAA Skiing Championships
The 1998 NCAA Skiing Championships were contested at the Bridger Bowl Ski Area in Bozeman, Montana as part of the 45th annual NCAA-sanctioned ski tournament to determine the individual and team national champions of men's and women's collegiate slalom and cross-country skiing in the United States. Colorado, coached by Richard Rokos, won the team championship, the Buffaloes' fourteenth title overall and third as a co-ed team. Venue This year's NCAA skiing championships were hosted at the Bridger Bowl Ski Area near Bozeman, Montana. These were the fifth championships held in the state of Montana (1960, 1983, 1985, 1996, and 1998). The United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) is the sports federation for college sports, collegiate skiing and snowboarding in the United States. With over 180 member colleges, the USCSA fields some 5,000 men and women, alpine, Nordic, freeski and snowboard athletes in over 200 competitive events annually. New Mexico Lobos Ski Team
The New Mexico Lobos are the athletic teams that represent the University of New Mexico, located in Albuquerque. The university participates in the NCAA Division I in the Mountain West Conference (MW) since 1999, after leaving the Western Athletic Conference. The university's athletic program fields teams in 16 varsity sports. UNM teams have won three national championships. Alaska Nanooks Ski Team
The Alaska Nanooks are the intercollegiate athletics teams that represent the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The Nanooks name is derived from the Inupiaq " nanuq", meaning polar bear. The school colors are blue and gold. The Nanooks compete at the NCAA Division II level for all sports except men's ice hockey (NCAA Division I). The Colby Mules (formerly known as the White Mules) are the varsity and club athletic teams of Colby College, a liberal arts college located in Waterville, Maine. The Montana State Bobcats are the varsity athletic teams representing Montana State University in Bozeman in intercollegiate athletics. The university sponsors thirteen teams including men and women's basketball, cross country, skiing, tennis, and track and field; women's-only golf and volleyball; and men's-only football. The Williams Ephs ( ) are the varsity intercollegiate athletic programs of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The school sponsors 32 varsity sports, most of which compete in the Division III New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). The school's men's and women's ski teams and men's and women's squash teams compete in Division I. The Green Bay Phoenix, previously known as the UW–Green Bay Phoenix and UWGB Phoenix, are the athletic teams of the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. Northern Michigan Wildcats Ski Team
The Northern Michigan Wildcats are the athletic teams that represent Northern Michigan University, located in Marquette, Michigan, in NCAA intercollegiate sporting competitions. All teams that play under NCAA governance compete at the NCAA Division II, Division II level, with three exceptions. The most significant one is the men's ice hockey program, which plays at the NCAA Division I, Division I level. Western Colorado Mountaineers Ski Team
The Western Colorado Mountaineers are the athletic teams that represent Western Colorado University, located in Gunnison, Colorado, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Nevada Wolf Pack are the athletic teams that represent the University of Nevada, Reno. They are part of NCAA's Division I's Mountain West Conference. It was founded on October 24, 1896 with football as the Sagebrushers in Reno, Nevada. History Name Nevada's athletic teams were originally known as the Sagebrushers, named after Nevada's state flower.
