1998 Molde FK Season
The 1998 season was Molde's 23rd season in the top flight of Norwegian football. This season Molde competed in Tippeligaen, the Norwegian Cup and the UEFA Cup. From 13 April to 22 August, Molde were unbeaten in 26 consecutive matches in all competitions; a club record. In Tippeligaen, Molde finished in 2nd position, 9 points behind winners Rosenborg. Molde was unbeaten throughout the first 21 matches in the league, a club record streak which was beaten in the 2014 season. Their first loss of the season came on 20 September when they were defeated 3–1 by Vålerenga in Oslo. In the following round, Molde played Rosenborg at home in a possibly league-defining game since Molde before the match was only one point behind Rosenborg. Molde FK
Molde Fotballklubb () is a professional football club based in Molde, Norway, that competes in Eliteserien, the top flight of Norwegian football. Founded on 19 June 1911, the club was originally known as International and changed its name to Molde in 1915. Molde are five-time league champions (2011, 2012, 2014, 2019 & 2022) and five-time Norwegian Cup winners (1994, 2005, 2013, 2014 and 2021), and have finished second in the league a further nine times. Geir Televik
Geir Televik (born 23 July 1971) is a retired Norwegian football striker. He started his career in Tornado FK. For IL Hødd he participated in their promotion to the highest level after the 1994 season. He scored 13 goals in the 1995 Norwegian Premier League; only five players had more goals. After the 1996 season he was sold to Molde FK for . He spent some time in the early summer of 1998 on loan to Hødd. Trond Andersen
Trond Andersen (born 6 January 1975) is a former Norwegian footballer, who played as a central defender or holding midfielder. He played professional for Molde, Wimbledon, AaB and Brøndby. Club career Andersen was born in Kristiansund and played for Clausenengen before he joined Molde ahead of the 1995 season. He played for the Tippeligaen side until the summer of 1999, when he was sold to Wimbledon, right before Molde's Champions League matches against Mallorca. Molde's head coach Erik Brakstad stated in 2011 that if the club had not sold their best player (Andersen), Molde could have advanced from the group stage of 1999–2000 UEFA Champions League. Karl Oskar Fjørtoft (born 26 July 1975 in Ålesund) is a Norwegian football coach and former player. Club career As an active player, Fjørtoft played for Hødd, Rosenborg BK, Molde FK, Swedish team Hammarby IF, Aalesund and Herd. After the 2008 season, his contract with Aalesund was not renewed. In late December he was signed by SK Herd together with former teammate Lasse Olsen. Bjarki Bergmann Gunnlaugsson (born 3 March 1973 in Akranes) is a retired Icelandic professional footballer who last played for FH. Club career After a period in English football at Preston North End FC, Bjarki joined up with his twin brother Arnar and they played together at KR Reykjavík when they came back home. The played with the team for several years, then joined their childhood club, ÍA Akranes, in 2006. They became the managers of the club, when the team manager, Ólafur Þórðarson, left the club because of a horrible start in the division. Daniel Berg Hestad (born 30 July 1975) is a Norwegian football manager and a former player, who played as a central midfielder, most notably for Molde. He is the manager of Molde 2 and the Under-19 squad of Molde. With 666 official appearances, he is the player with most official matches for Molde. Knut Anders Fostervold (born 4 October 1971) is a Norwegian former footballer and cyclist. As a footballer he played as a midfielder and defender from 1991 until 2002, notably played for Molde FK and Grimsby Town. Pål Lydersen (born 10 September 1965) is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played as a left-back. Lydersen played for IK Start, until he was signed by English club Arsenal in November 1991. Petter Christian Singsaas (born 23 August 1972) is a Norwegian former football player, who played as a central defender, most notably for Molde. He won the Norwegian cup with Molde in 2005. Club career Singsaas debuted for Molde in the Tippeligaen match against Brann on 22 April 1995, and went on to play for Molde for nine seasons until 2003, had a break from top level football and returned to Molde in 2005 where he played another three seasons.
