The third edition of the Johan Cruyff Shield ( nl, Johan Cruijff Schaal) was held on 16 August 1998 between Ajax, who had won both the 1997–98 Eredivisie and the 1997–98 KNVB Cup, and PSV Eindhoven, who had finished as runners-up in the 1997–98 Eredivisie (and, coincidentally, also in the 1997–98 KNVB Cup). Ole Tobiasen
Ole Tobiasen (born 8 July 1975) is a Danish football manager and former player. He is an assistant manager with the Dutch club Heerenven. As a player, Tobiasen played as a right-back or centre-back for a number of clubs in Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway. He most prominently won the Eredivisie championship with Ajax and the Danish Superliga championship with F.C. Copenhagen. Tobiasen was capped six times for the Denmark national team. Abel Luís da Silva Costa Xavier (; born 30 November 1972) is a Portuguese football manager and former professional footballer who played as a right-back. Ronald Katarina Martinus Waterreus (; born 25 August 1970) is a Dutch former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He notably played for PSV Eindhoven and Rangers, before ending his career at New York Red Bulls in the Major League Soccer. Morten Olsen
Morten Per Olsen (born 14 August 1949) is a Danish football manager and former player. He was the head coach of the Denmark national team for 15 years from 2000 until 2015, guiding Denmark to the 2002 FIFA World Cup, 2004 European Championship, 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2012 European Championship. Richard Peter Witschge (born 20 September 1969) is a Dutch former footballer who played as a midfielder. He was known for his technique and passing ability. Wamberto de Jesus Sousa Campos (born 13 December 1974) is a Brazilian former footballer who last played as a forward and as a midfielder. He notably represented AFC Ajax and Standard Liége.
